This weekend I visited the Turn It Up exhibition at the Science Museum Group with my little niece and was pleasantly surprised to find research by my former athletics coach, Prof Costas Karageorghis (Professor in Sports and Exercise Psychology at Brunel University London) on how different music genres influence driving performance. His work (using driving simulators) shows that slower music helps drivers stay calm and collected in stressful city environments. 🚗🎵 Another highlight was the AI Song Contest, where teams from around the world train algorithms to create music. The deep learning algorithm used is called a neural network, loosely based on how nerves connect in human brain. If you're curious about the science of music and have a little one who could benefit from an immersive learning experience, add this exhibition to your list! #TurnItUp #ScienceMuseum #MusicScience #AIMusic #InnovationInMusic #MusicPsychology
