Credit card lounge wars heating up. With Chase announcing a new Sapphire Lounge at LAX and Capital One announcing a new lounge at JFK and with dedicated lounge ads from Chase popping up during the opening weekend of ⚽Euro 2024 it feels like the lounge wars have gone up a notch in just the past few days. Chase Sapphire Reserve TV/video ads running for the past few months focus on Sapphire Lounge by the Club (4 locations open currently with more planned) with the provocative statement that "this is what an airport lounge is supposed to be." 👇 💡Lounge wars accelerate. With travel rebounding and younger consumers less loyal to airlines, banks have focused on the bank-branded travel card opportunity with airport lounges seemingly the key to capturing premium customers. As premium travel card marketing shifts to more of a focus on these costly lounge networks, I expect to see an explosion of side-by-side comparisons to support bold claims and unique offerings to create differentiation plus MORE DEDICATED LOUNGE ADS FROM BANKS. #travelcardmarketing #advertising #marketing #loungemarketing #loungewars

True story: I have started getting to the airport early so I can spend an hour (or more!) in the Centurion lounge in Seattle. I love it. Who would have ever said "I want to spend MORE time in the airport" before the lounge wars? We don't have a Chase lounge in Seattle (yet) but I'm excited to try it next time I'm in NY.

Thanks, Andrew. Not surprised Chicago is missing—Chase hasn’t opened lounges at Midway or O’Hare due to space and competition. Midway’s first lounge, The Club MDW, opens in 2024 via Priority Pass. Love the LAX rendering with outdoor terminal access. Looking forward to the new lounge at LAS, hopefully ready by Money 20/20 2024!

As much as I’ve been traveling, I am starting to get sad if my airport doesn’t have a lounge. It really makes traveling a much nicer experience. Priority Pass has been coming in clutch. Writing this from a PP lounge in Zurich waiting for my connection. ✈️

Thanks Andrew! Perhaps Clarke will pay a visit and let’s see who wins his preference! Delta at LAX is quite an experience so let’s see how Chase measures up!
