Every 1% matters 🍃. . . Halving AI's climate footprint required a re-think of the entire infrastructure stack. SMC's full-rail, #NVIDIA HGX H100 clusters are powered by our immersion cooling platform - the HyberCube - that cuts energy use and CO₂ output by up to 50%. Making that jump requires bold thinking and innovative technology. As part of our drive to maximise efficiency, all SMC H100 instances run on a DC power architecture, developed with our partners. The in-chassis power supply unit (PSU) in typical data AI GPU servers is at best certified to be a minimum of 91% efficient when heavily loaded. The AC to DC conversion system within our HyperCube has a minimum efficiency of 97% when heavily loaded. To make it all scale, the final piece is running this via a DC bus rail, making scaling the cluster seamless - no power cables required (and more e-waste saved!). What you're looking at here is a part of that power delivery system: SMC designed DC power bus adaptors for our H100 instances. 70kW at the rack -this is where we come in providing better smarter monitoring at the rack and room level, as with higher densities comes increased HVAC loads to keep the air flowing through hotter running equipment. AQI monitoring comes into the solution set as poor air quality in the form of VOCs and particulate matter flows along to, right through the rack. Broadcom bolsters VMware Edge Compute Stack Updates in VMware Edge Compute Stack 3.5 include zero-touch orchestration capabilities, pull-based architecture, and edge fleet management. A slew of updates in VMware Edge Compute Stack (ECS) 3.5 are aimed at helping customers more easily manage edge devices, applications, and infrastructure across multiple locations, and industry watchers say the updated platform will support AI at the edge.
