Hedge fund performance was generally positive in June; the average asset weighted hedge fund net return across all strategies was 1.40%. Equity markets rallied in June, benefiting from the pause in the Fed’s rate hikes and the resolution of US debt ceiling negotiations. Strategies with a higher beta to equities outperformed, supported by general equity market performance; long biased was the strongest-performing strategy and the weakest-performing strategy was arbitrage. As we know from our analysis, speculation at the “fix “ is very prevalent, given the price retracenent after the fixing window closes, typically seen at the 4pm, and especially at month end. SIREN FX of course reduces this by using a longer window. Independent pricing and an optimal execution algorithm.
