Chief Executive Officer at Delta Air Lines

At Delta, our motto is, “No One Better Connects the World.” But it’s not just something we say, it’s something we live. In 2022, we teamed up with Michelin and the Best Defense Foundation to take 29 WWII veterans, assisted by our Delta caregivers, back to the beaches of Normandy, France. All of this was thanks to one of our employees who saw the opportunity to meaningfully connect with our WWII heroes. Today marks the beginning of our third journey returning over 50 WWII veterans to Normandy in recognition of the 80th anniversary of D-Day. We are truly honored to be a part of their journey, and I look forward to greeting them in Deauville tomorrow.

It is amazing that you are doing this! I only laugh as these very Important Veterans probably couldn’t board the plane when you only call for Active Duty Military in your boarding protocol! American calls for Active, Retired, or ALL Military members. Continue the good work taking care of those that made our freedoms possible.

I’m so proud to be a part of this program. Just being in the presence of these WWII Veterans—members of our GREATEST GENERATION—is nothing short of humbling. A huge THANK YOU to Delta and Michelin for your sponsorship of Best Defense Foundation which makes this possible.

Delta has a great heart and you are my preferred carrier

Well done Ed Bastian and the whole Delta Air Lines teams! It’s a magnificent operation and you made it work. I’m used to say that I am French by birth, and American by choice, having friends and family both sides of the Atlantic and travelling between the two countries extensively. Being in aviation since many years, and being from Normandie, also being a pilot myself, I am so grateful to see this flight happening. I also have no words to say how we owe to those veterans, and to all the other men and women who have been fighting, with so many loosing their lives, right here, 80 years ago. Thank you Delta for respectfully flying the veterans straight to Normandie. It’s such a beautiful message. This land is indeed a peaceful and beautiful part of France. It wouldn’t be without them all. We are in debt, and we are so grateful. And while Normandie is France, it is -and shall always be- a place where ALL Americans should ALWAYS feel like at home. THANK YOU. ✈️🙏🏻✈️🇫🇷🇺🇸

This is heartwarming and sombering all at the same time. My Granddad was a WWII and Korean War, I still have a sleeping bag he would ruck around. It’s heavy! His military and my military time were hugely different. Those Vets are/were hardcore!!

So glad to see Delta is always taking care of others. My first wife got ALS and lost her job - Delta and my co-workers were there till the very end. I wish I could say everything Delta did for me. Very Blessed

I have been left with no other option but to utilize this opportunity to inform both Delta Airlines and it customers that I did not experience the service that this motto is intended to convey. I planned a last minute trip with my mother-in-law because her Parkinson’s Disease was progressing. I brought my 5 year old autistic son so he could make u forgettable memories with us. We are all disabled by the state of Massachusetts, myself with Corona Disease. My saved text messages with Delta customer support show my concern about mobility for us and the promises that we were going to be taken care of. We got no help whatsoever on every leg of our round trip flights. Because of the physical strain my mother-in-law ensured, we were unable to leave our resort in order to take care of her. I used all of my savings for this trip but what what we were most robbed of was the memories. It has been a year since my first formal complaint. I was insulted by the 200$ flight vouchers. Before going to the DOT/FAA, I requested that delta vacations send me back to st Thomas for a total of $2500. If this was not acceptable, I added, please send me a report of the complaint review and how the decision was made. My emails are now being ignored. Ed Bastian
