Today Administrator Criswell briefed President Biden and other leaders on the Spring disaster season and our readiness for the 2024 hurricane season. At FEMA we are working hard to meet communities where they are, to help them overcome barriers to our assistance and help jumpstart their recovery. As we look ahead to a busy summer defined by strong storms, wildfires, and extreme heat, we stand ready to meet our mission of helping people before, during, and after disasters.

I would like to ask what security measures are in place for certain individuals. Such as, disabled veterans and others, senior citizens and elderly and persons without transportation. Could this be sent out to everyone in letter and form? To have each individual asked to complete and send back if they would need special arrangements or accomodations during any type of emergency. And those on oxygen or insulin registered at the local 🚒

Who are your Emergency Managers? As we approach the peak of Atlantic hurricane season, here's another introduction to Charleston County's Emergency Management team. Not only is Owen part of the team at Charleston County Emergency Management Department, but he also volunteers with Caromi Volunteer Fire Department (Ladson, SC). He keeps tools and a first aid kit in his vehicle to help in emergencies when needed. A reminder: We are currently in hurricane season, but disasters can happen any time with no warning. Be prepared.
