Stablecoins are the new banking-as-a-service (BaaS). Everything from payroll, remittances, yield, and cross-border payments is being built on top of it to serve populations like Argentina. Much like how the Venmo's of the world benefitted from BaaS, stablecoins are offering the same service where any end user with a wallet who holds stablecoins can have a digital USD account without the risks of banks collapsing for the following reasons: - Stablecoins are self-custodied - The issuer is often bankruptcy remote - Stablecoins are 1:1 collateralized, as opposed to fractional reserve banking - Stablecoins offer T0 settlement Not only are stablecoins the new BaaS, but it's potentially an entirely new banking system as a whole.
