Israel's air-defense system has once again demonstrated its strength and significance in protecting the country from aerial attacks. Despite over 300 drones and ballistic missiles launched by Iran, Israel's multilayered air-defense system successfully prevented any significant damage or casualties. This highlights the importance of having a robust and impenetrable air-defense system, which is equally important as offensive war fighting systems such as jets or tanks. As we continue to face evolving threats, it's crucial to prioritize the development and maintenance of reliable air-defense systems to ensure the safety and security of our country.

MY UKRAINIAN CHRONICLE - WAR YEAR 2 10.-11.1.2024 Tuesday night Russia attacked Kharkiv with short-range S-300 missiles launched from Belgorod, hitting residential buildings and a children’s hospital. Last night Russia attacked Kharkiv’s city centre again with S-300 missiles, damaging also a hotel where 23 guests were located, including two Turkish journalists working for Anadolu. At least 13 people were wounded. The attack against the hotel demonstrated again how imprecise these missiles are as both missed the hotel, one hitting the parking ground in front of the hotel, where it pulverized some cars, and the other one exploding near the building ruining its façade. Using S-300 missiles against ground targets has no military value and is designed to terrorise civilians. Some weeks ago when they hit another Kharkiv hotel where a German TV crew was based, Russian officials claimed to have killed and wounded up to 200 Ukrainian and NATO military there… Russian officials reported about a large number of attack drones and unguided rockets intercepted near Belgorod, without providing details. Belgorod has been the launching platform of Russia’s systematic terror attacks against Kharkiv’s infrastructure and residential areas for almost 2 years now, but recently Ukraine has started to strike back with the means available. They are domestically produced as missiles supplied by international partners are not allowed to be used for strikes against troops and military installations in Russia. Recent reports indicate that Ukraine has started to use relatively cheap means of air attack (drones, rockets) forcing Russia to use much more expensive air defence missiles to take them down – in a way mirroring Russia’s attempts to exhaust Ukraine’s air defences by massive attacks with cheap Iranian kamikaze drones. There are reports that Iran has supplied a new type of kamikaze drone equipped with a jet engine (instead of the current “moped” propeller engine) which can fly much faster, up to 500 km/h, and may have already been used by Russia against Ukrainian cities. At this speed Ukraine’s mobile air defence units, which currently take down many Iranian “moped” kamikaze drones with simple guns, will have to use portable air defence missiles to destroy them, which are more costly. On Tuesday night two Ukrainian drones were intercepted at Russia’s military air base in Engels near the Volga river (Volgograd region), were they fell onto the base reportedly without causing damage to Russia’s strategic bombers stationed there. Russian officials reported about intercepted drones also in Voronezh, Rostov, Tula, Kaluga regions. ... Full news summary attached

Technology, we have been told, is fundamental to winning wars. This can be observed throughout history and in current and emerging conflicts. Most recently, it has been reported that Azerbaijan is using advanced Turkish drones in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Similarly, in Ukraine, there are numerous examples of the use of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and satellites. However, ‘Operation al Aqsa Flood’, conducted by Hamas and its partners in Israel on 7 October 2023, appears at first glance to have gone against this paradigm. Home to leading military and defence engineering programmes, Israel watched its multimillion-dollar defence system struggle against forms of low-tech warfare. The resulting destruction and horror may even challenge, at least on the Israeli end, the very assumption that possessing advanced defence technology is enough to prevent mass atrocities. #UnitedStates 🇺🇸 | #Iran 🇮🇷: according to an unclassified threat report released by the US Defense Intelligence Agency, #Houthi forces have employed various #Iran-origin missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles against military and civilian targets throughout the #MiddleEast. The threat report provides a comparative analysis of publicly available images of Iranian missiles and UAVs to those displayed and employed by Houthi forces in #Yemen to attack commercial shipping in the #RedSea and civilian and port infrastructure across the region. The report highlights the evolving and strengthening relationship between the Houthis and Iran. Since 2014, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (#IRGC-QF) has provided the Houthis a growing arsenal of sophisticated weapons and training. Iran’s aid has enabled the Houthis to conduct a campaign of missile and UAV attacks against commercial shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023, threatening freedom of navigation and international commerce in one of the world’s most critical waterways. 🚨Travel and work abroad are associated with security risks that can come from many different sources and their impact on people and business can be devastating. Israel Says Most Drones, Missiles Were Intercepted Iran attacked Israel in retaliation for strike on embassy compound, after days of threatening action Israel says over 200 drones and missiles were intercepted; a military base suffered slight damage US and UK helped intercept drones targeting Israel Iran’s mission to the UN said the matter “can be deemed concluded” Western leaders have condemned the attack, saying it risk further destabilizing the region. The White House has issued a statement from Biden after his call with Netanyahu. Here it is in full: Earlier today, Iran — and its proxies operating out of Yemen, Syria and Iraq — launched an unprecedented air attack against military facilities in Israel. I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms. At my direction, to support the defense of Israel, the U.S. military moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week. Thanks to these deployments and the extraordinary skill of our servicemembers, we helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles. I’ve just spoken with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm America’s ironclad commitment to the security of Israel. I told him that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks – sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel. Tomorrow, I will convene my fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s brazen attack. My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel’s leaders. And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people. Reports are emerging of a Ukrainian drone attack hitting several targets in Moscow earlier today, including a Russian defence ministry building believed to be the headquarters of the country's notorious cyber forces. No injuries have been reported as yet, but the attack on the military facility was a symbolic blow. The building, a 19th-century barracks in the south-west of the Russian capital, acts as the headquarters for the Russian army's orchestra but is better known as the home base for Unit 26165 of the country's military intelligence service, the GRU, which has been responsible for a spate of major hacking attacks in recent years. It remains unclear why the office buildings were targeted. Russia has branded the attack as a "terrorist act", while Ukraine's deputy prime minister has promised "more" attacks in the future. According to available information, there were sightings of Ukrainian "Beaver" long-range attack drones flying over the Russian capital of Moscow. These drones have a distinctive profile, with short front wings and primary stabilisers on the rear wings. Credit: Social media #UAV #Moskow #Ukraine #russia #EOD #EOKHUB

Erick Erickson Iran attacked Israel with 186 explosive drones, 36 cruise missiles, and 110 surface to surface missiles coordinated from three fronts. But because the counter measures were so successful, the American left and Biden Administration have declared that Iran really didn’t mean it. Surely the Iranians could have unleashed real hell if they had wanted to. After all, American intelligence gathered so much information on when an attack was coming, it was like Iran held a press conference to tell Israel exactly when and where the attack would happen. The success of those pesky Jews defeating Iran’s attack just means Iran’s attack was all for show. Let’s not kid ourselves. If Iran had killed a lot of Jews, the left/media would find some way to insist Israel should not retaliate. They’d say Israel started it, Iran telegraphed a response, and Israel should have been more ready. But because Israel was prepared and successfully stopped the attack, the left/media will say Iran just did it for show an didn’t really mean it and doesn’t want to escalate after becoming the first nation since Iraq in the Gulf War to launch missiles at Israel. The American left and much of the media just have no desire to credit Israel with anything. The narrative is that Iran’s attack was just a retaliation for what Israel did blowing up Iran’s embassy in Syria. Actually, Israel blew up the “Iranian consulate” because it contained members of the Iranian military who had helped Hamas with October 7. The media/Democrat spin is like saying the Americans bombed Dresden because the Nazis bombed London, as opposed to this is what a war looks like. This is, in fact, what a war looks like. To more precisely explain what happened, Israel bombed the headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria and killed the Quds Force commander who had directly played a role in planning the October 7th Hamas invasion of Israel. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is a recognized terrorist organization by the United States government. Israel had legitimate reasons to target the military officials involved, though those now dead military officials had no reason to target the innocent 1700 Israelis murdered on October 7, 2023. It’s just striking that the Biden Administration has turned hostile to Israel after Michigan’s primary. It is just as striking that so much of the American media is with him on the pivot. A nation does not launch 186 explosive drones, 36 cruise missiles, and 110 surface to surface missiles at another nation just for show. Penalizing Israel for successful countermeasures is not the way to end the war. Americans are still held hostage and Hamas refuses to release them. The war will only get longer and spread further by Joe Biden’s failure to lead instead of being led around by poll numbers and antisemites.
