It appears that the initial motives of rapprochement between the Arabs and The Assad regime were not primarily grounded in political foundations. Instead, the approach sought to bring to the forefront the relations between certain Arab countries and the Assad regime, thereby making these relations more public, as evidenced by the case of the UAE. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia pursued a different path, aiming to position itself as the leader of the Arab countries and a competent problem solver (while recognizing that historically, neither Saudi Arabia nor the Arab League has been able to resolve Arab issues effectively). By providing a platform for Assad to speak at the Arab summit, Saudi Arabia seemingly intended to make a veiled attack and emphasize Syria's positioning with Iran, signaling a stance of superiority and influence. However, the scenario unfolded differently as Arab disappointments ensued due to the Assad regime's lack of genuine commitment to the step-for-step initiative. Rather than taking concrete measures to address concerns, the regime showed reluctance, further exacerbating the situation. The issue of Captagon smuggling, a pressing concern for the region, was not effectively addressed, leaving Arab nations unsatisfied. Adding to the complexities, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi's visit to Damascus was met with a hero's welcome. During this visit, economic agreements were signed, leading to Syria becoming an open arena for Iran across various sectors. This stance by Assad unequivocally solidified his alliance with Iran, leaving no room for negotiation. Moreover, he even demanded that Arab nations pay money for the return of refugees, akin to requesting compensation for past opposition as a precondition for accepting their initiatives. Notably, Arab frustration manifested itself in various ways, with a clear indication being the failure of Arab countries to reopen their embassies in Damascus. Additionally, Arab leaders displayed reluctance to visit Syria, underscoring the complexities and challenges surrounding relations with the Assad regime. As a consequence of these developments, Saudi Arabia found itself frustrated, and its diplomatic efforts in the Syrian file yielded no breakthrough. This echoed the challenges faced earlier in Yemen and Sudan. Consequently, the recent issuance of new Saudi ambassador appointments came without including an ambassador to Syria, indicating the complex nature of the situation. The question raised today is whether Saudi Arabia had envisaged a similar scenario and, more importantly, what options lie ahead for the kingdom in light of this potentially embarrassing situation. #PoliticalAnalysis #Diplomacy #ArabRelations #Geopolitics #SaudiArabia #AssadRegime #Iran #RegionalDynamics #Leadership #ForeignPolicy #ExpertInsights

Interesting to see the same countries that don't want to cease fire and negotiate peace in Gaza, are the same Countries denying Israeli genocide allegations against South Africa It would be interesting to see if a replicated Houthi movement happens in South Africa stopping more ships from reaching their destination. Seems like all diplomatic matters are resolved by war and no negotiations of peace in sight. #yemen #houthis #southafrica #genocide #redsea #shippingindustry

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkey visited #Iraq requesting Prime Minister's Office, Republic of Iraq to recognize the #PKK as terrorists. I would concur with this action, if the returns, benefits for Iraqis, is sufficient. Specifically, does this entail water rights, which should never be negotiable as diplomacy, as the United Nations would concur. Also, there is the issue of oil sales, another lawsuit against Turkey by Iraq to be judged by the ICC Arbitration, I believe. I remind the esteemed Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey has "this presidency," in its COIN against the PKK. Although a Yousif Matty at Classical School of the Medes informed me of quality Turkish products, as if Turkey is favored by Kurds above #Iran. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran Wisdom on The Hill posits differently. The trade between Kurdish Iraq and #Iran, also bolsters this. Farsi is a good language. 👍 I don't make promises. That would violate the Logan Act. Simply predictions. But, we look forward to peace and stability. Insha Allah ❤️ Peace Brigades International

TIME TO URGENTLY REVISIT OUR AFGHAN POLICY !! China has appointed an envoy in Kabul w/o extending formal recognition India reopened Kabul embassy in June 2022 & has closed previous regime's embassy in Delhi recently...and there is talk of India about to formally recognizing the Afghan Taliban Govt in Kabul . So it seems U.S 's "Doha strategy" of encircling Pak is now more than obvious . The U.S kep Pak away from the Doha talks while forcing Pak to release Ehsanullah Ehsan (notorious for APS Peshawar attack) & Mullah Birader (as Zalmey Khaleelzad tweeted Pak has released Taliban elements from Pak jails on U.S insistence for the sake of Doha talks . The alternative media then reported that there were some secret clauses of the Doha Agreement which were about collaboration b/w Afghan Taliban and the U.S against Pak . It would not be wrong to say with recent improvement in U.S-Taliban relations (& India already being U.S 's strategic ally having four foundational defense agreements with the U.S) India's reported intention to extend formal recognition to Afghan Taliban along with China leaves all wondering why Pak isn't doing it? M/o while Pak has every reason to ask illegal Afghan refugees to return , specially those who were settled in Pak on d insistence of the U.S post Aug 2021 ,(but they cud include TTP , ISIS & ANA elements & as the ISIS also claimed terror) this policy became controversial when there was news even Afghans settled in Pak since decades r being asked to leave . (there has not been categorical denial of this by the GOP) Hence China & India almost recognizing d Taliban Govt while Pak not doing so & instead sending back Afghan refugees, who settled decades back, IS A DANGEROUS policy, making Pak vulnerable on both d Eastern & Western borders So for regional Peace & to prevent our region from becoming another Syria or Iraq Pak should improve ties with both Taliban & India That is crucial to succeed against the TTP/ terrorism Pak shouldn't bracket Afghan Taliban with India unless confirmed by our own sources but we should also prevent Afghan Taliban from forging alliance with Modi Govt , which seem to have no qualms about World or regional Peace . https://lnkd.in/gfxZgjCz
