We kick off week three of intern spotlights with Tyler Ingle, a University of Central Florida student. Tyler is a Field Engineer Intern spending the summer in Jacksonville, Florida, working at a water reclamation facility. So far, the work has challenged him, but the people have exceeded his expectations. "When I started, I found almost every aspect of this job surprising or new. However, I was most surprised by the people. My jobsite is full of hard-working, interesting, and passionate people. I love this job because I can't wait to learn something new alongside incredible colleagues and mentors daily."

We round out week two of intern spotlights with Mina Ibrahim, a Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) senior. Mina joins us on a pipeline project in Nashville as a Project Engineer Intern. "One of my favorite things about Garney is the company culture. Everyone here is friendly and constantly helps me learn new things. My incredible mentor and team have always been there to answer questions and help me reach my goals. I hope to be on this great team in the future."

Our pipe, plant, and industrial experts are excited to connect with you about enhancing our water systems to better serve our communities in Georgia.

Kyle Thome, a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, is spending the summer in Maryland and Virginia learning about Garney's most important value—safety. As a Safety Intern, he has learned what it takes to build a culture of excellence and has worked alongside the crew to get things done. "I've learned that every crew and job is different and having 'soft skills' is one of the most important strengths for a safety professional. My favorite thing to do while at work is to jump in, help the laborers, and learn how the work gets done. I will continue to learn from the experiences of other employee-owners and what I can do to improve company safety."

Yesterday, we wrapped up our summer Garney-Go! New Hire Orientation where more than 60 employee-owners gathered in Kansas City to learn about the company and form a solid foundation for their new careers. These sessions allow attendees to connect with fellow employees, meet and hear from Garney leaders, grow their resource tree, participate in a community service project, and see the company's headquarters.

Say hello to Emily Nino, a Project Engineer Intern from Florida State University! Emily is learning the ropes working on site at a water reclamation facility expansion project in Jacksonville, Florida. "Garney set the bar for all of my future endeavors. Being able to learn how everything works internally and being able to see tangible developments in the field has been a deeply rewarding experience for me."

This week's #GarneyJobShot is of Pump Station 33 in Hagerstown, Maryland. This project includes constructing a new wastewater pump station, 2,900 linear feet of force main, and 3,000 linear feet of gravity sewer main. The new system will replace aging infrastructure and position the area for its projected residential and commercial growth.

Today we shine the spotlight on Charles Elsten, our accounting intern from Benedictine College. Over the past month, he's been busy in Kansas City crunching numbers and assisting the accounting team with daily tasks, such as handling customer and A/P invoices and bank reconciliation. "The sheer amount of different costs associated with each job and phase has been the most interesting thing I've learned. This experience at Garney is perfect for my career goals because I've always wanted to work in the accounting and financial side of the construction industry."

In June, several of Garney's field supervisors convened in Kansas City for our quarterly Supervisor Safety Training. This session emphasizes the core components of Garney's safety and health program, leadership skills, and competencies that reinforce our ongoing commitment to a strong safety culture.
