Meetings are so fascinating. Almost every one of them is way too long for what is needed! For everyone who runs a company, make this the year where you put pressure on meetings and their length. Sometimes a long meeting is actually needed - but many times it's not. People tend to fill the time the time they have. If you give them 30 minutes they'll take 30, if you give them 15 minutes they'll take 15. I love 7-minute meetings that are normally booked for 30 minutes. I love 27-minute meetings when they are normally booked for an hour. People are always complaining that they don’t have enough time when in fact they just had 9 meetings on that day that all were wasted by filling the time they scheduled and thus wasting 2-4 hours!

Too many people are chasing money when they should really be chasing their own happiness. There’s a real world shortage of actual happiness. I wish it on all of you … All of the happiest people I know aren't necessarily the richest, they are the people that actually love what they do for a living. I promise $ isn’t it, that said I applaud all those who strive for financial success and hope you get it … but I promise …. If u think it makes you calm all day and lack anxiety and have smiles 24/7 … go grind and come find out !

I’ve listened to some people complain about their employees constantly, but after spending fifteen minutes with them over a cocktail, it’s very obvious that their insecurities, fears, and cynical points of view are actually the core issues. Some managers think their employees will leave if they’re trained too much. Some fear the ramifications of the mistakes their employees will inevitably make, so they put heavy restrictions on what they can and can’t do. Some lead with ego and suppress those under them so that their employees don’t become “too” successful and leave. How can you grow your own career as a leader if you’re always micromanaging and restricting those under you? You’re limiting your potential too.

Company culture is just as important as the bottom line, if you have a toxic culture you'll lose... People are the driving force behind your business, and creating a positive and empowering culture is essential for the success of your business. That means you have to understand what your employees want at a deep level. You have to be constantly adapting to their needs and what they want from the organization. For example, one of my employees might want higher pay when he’s 24. But maybe he falls in love at 28 and decides he wants to spend more time with his family. Another might be more interested in a fancy title. Another might want to get access to me and build a relationship. Another might want to go to one of our international offices and work there. There are a million different variables, and it’s on you as a leader to adjust to reality as it changes. Culture is not something you can just hang on a wall and call it a day. A strong culture is built through consistent actions and decision-making. Either you care about your culture because you actually understand it... or you just say it because it looks 'good' and you actually don't care and you just care about your short term money. Don't underestimate the power of investing in your employees. It's not just the right thing to do, it's also a smart business move.
