Previously, I shared Prof. Thomson's argument that there are no rules for #WritingInSTEM. Now, we see why IMRaD falls short as a rule — it is missing a crucial piece, a throughline of argument that ties it all together like beads on a string. Of course, IMRAD isn't even appropriate for some types of writing (such as emails) or some types of audiences (such as academic outsiders). But persuasion is almost always the goal of #WritingInSTEM. Something important to keep in mind the next time you are writing.

Hey everyone! Back after a mostly uneventful weekend (if you know, you know 😉 ) Managed to finish Chapter 13 and half of Chapter 14! When I started two weeks ago, my expected # of chapters was 16! I'd almost be FINISHED by now! But the number of chapters have increased since then, due to pacing and word count 😱 So now the end of the novel is currently sitting at 23 chapters 😡 It keeps trying to run away from me, but I'm GOING to finish this race before the end of the year, mark my words, literally!
