Jeremy Hunt is a braver man than I, agreeing to be grilled by Robert Peston and for #TheRestIsMoney podcast the other week (… although I’m up for the challenge, Robert!). But the topic was an urgent one: #productivity. 📉 The most recent data from the Office for National Statistics found that the UK is a third less #productive than the US and a fifth less productive than France. This supports Be the Business' own findings from last year, which revealed that the UK is the finds itself second from bottom of the #G7 productivity table, just ahead of Japan but miles behind the US at the top of the table. The reason? The Chancellor told Robert that the problem lies in the higher levels of business #investment especially in Germany. 🤔 But I’m not sure that gets under the skin of what’s really happening… Much like the New Year #resolutions that we make with the best of intentions (data shows that almost half of us will have given up by the end of January!), there’s a big gap between what we say we’re going to do and what we then get round to. And the same is true when it comes to UK #businesses.
