From the groundbreaking tailfins of the 50s to the sleek lines of its all-electric vehicle portfolio today, Cadillac has a rich history of design innovation, and it is continuing to push the boundaries of electric vehicle design with the new Cadillac #LYRIQ.  We recently hosted Vogue France and its community in our flagship store in Paris to celebrate creative boldness, strong silhouettes and our love for surprising design elements that bring joy.

Since its introduction Cadillac is embedded in pop culture. Its influence transcends automobiles, infiltrating music, cinema, fashion and beyond. Featured in more than 400 movie scenes and referenced in over 300 songs, Cadillac has been the vehicle of choice for many icons of music and films. Last month, when we opened our flagship store in Paris opposite Opéra Garnier, we teamed up with Sony Music Entertainment to create a new song by Sofiane Pamart and Oxmo Puccino as a homage to the brand. Cadillac is having a renaissance moment around the world driven by its #EV portfolio that is built to standout with bold design that makes a statement, a drive experience that doesn’t sacrifice on performance and user-friendly technology features.    Today, we announced that we are expanding our portfolio in Europe. Cadillac OPTIQ will be our second all-electric vehicle to compete in the SUV segment. #OPTIQ will build on LYRIQ’s success and provide all the things that people love in a #LYRIQ but in a more compact package with a vibrant, athletic vibe      We also opened the doors of Cadillac City in Paris, opposite Opera Garnier. Cadillac City is an immersive experience centre designed to be the core of Cadillac's electric vision in France. Cadillac LYRIQ has been receiving enthusiastic reactions in the US. I had a very interesting chat with Aaron Heslehurst at BBC Talking Business. I thought he did a very insightful piece, beyond the doom and gloom that I am reading everywhere.   Three takeaways for me – 1. Despite the critics, EVs are good for the world 2. The move to EVs will not be linear – interesting insights from Norway that has 91% EV penetration in passenger cars. 3. Charging and battery production are all moving in the right direction and consumers will soon see the impact. #iworkforgm #gmeurope #electricvehicles

Many have questioned whether the slowdown in #EV sales is simply a blip, or the first stages of a more significant downturn. In this brilliant interview, our leader, Mary Barra emphatically answers the question about the direction of the industry. As she points out, while growth may have slowed, the market is still expanding. Of course, we’re still in the nascent days of EV revolution. The shift to EVs is the single most profound change the auto industry has seen in over 100 years, comparable to when we went from horse and buggy to internal combustion engine. It is, to use the cliché, a marathon, not a sprint. But everybody at General Motors is clear: the destination is electric. Mary’s interview is well worth the 24 minutes of your time today. #IworkforGM
