Reflecting on the last couple of weeks, which saw me dip my toe back into the world of industry events for the first time since joining Tripadvisor. My first stop was #itbberlin2023, the world’s largest travel event. I want to thank the team for organizing such an incredible conference, particularly Lea Jordan, who hosted me on the main stage in front of a packed out crowd. This was an amazing opportunity to share all the exciting news coming out of Tripadvisor, along with some broader thoughts around 2023 travel marketing trends. Hot on the heels of ITB was #sxsw23, a whirlwind of partner meetings in the wonderful chaos of Austin, TX. I also had the chance to catch up with Seraj Bharwani about all things marketing during Brand Innovators’ Marketing Leadership Summit. Spending time with humanitarian Chef Jose Andres and our friends and partners at World Central Kitchen also a highlight at the MediaLink event! There is so much momentum and creativity out there in our industry right now and jet lag withstanding, it was a joy to connect with global industry partners face-to-face. Both events also served as timely reminders that there really is no better way to make new connections than in-person.
