Happy 24th birthday to my first born. This is what he looked like when we moved to San Diego to live what's been an extraordinary life and place to call home. I am filled with so much gratitude, love & pride for the young man he's become. Happiest of birthdays to my son who taught me the feeling of pure joy.

So excited to celebrate America's birthday once again with the Big Bay Boom. It's always so special and full of surprises - benefiting military families. It is a spectacular event to behold, but also chock-full of personal, feel good moments. Hope you can join us at Fox 5 San Diego next Thursday -> 4th of July 🇺🇸🎆

This job can be a handful 😆 Incredibly grateful that two of my favorite projects at Fox 5 San Diego were honored this weekend with Emmy Awards. I'm so proud of everyone involved in Veterans Voices & The Big Bay Boom. I'm especially grateful to all the Veterans who have shared their stories with me over the years. They are now woven into the fabric of who I am - you're unforgettable. Thanks to NATAS Pacific Southwest Chapter for this lovely recognition. Means a lot.

Talk about perspective. On June 7th, the world lost the man who captured it in an indelible image, known as "Earthrise". William Anders snapped the historic photo that changed the way we view earth and ourselves while aboard the Apollo 8 space flight in 1968. He died at the age of 90 piloting a plane alone that crashed over Puget Sound, Washington. A Grossmont High School graduate, Anders kept a house in his hometown of San Diego along with enduring friendships here. President and CEO of the San Diego Air & Space Museum, Jim Kidrick was one of them. He joined me live in studio for the 10pm News to speak about the man he called a "father figure". Here is that conversation about an American hero who was loved by those who knew him to the moon and back.

No Gloom in my June. Just an appreciation post for a sunny San Diego day today and a bit of a travel tip. "May Gray" and "June Gloom" are real weather phenomenons. So if you plan to visit in the next two months before the "July Fry"...just know you may be welcomed by our infamous marine layer. It can be cloudy and cooler than you might expect. That said, a heat wave is on tap starting midweek - with the hottest days expected Thursday & Friday. Excessive heat watches are also posted for the deserts and county "cool zones" will open as well to provide relief for those who don't have air conditioning: coolzones.org ❄️ It's been a minute since I earned my broadcast meteorology degree - but I still love the science and can't stop myself. Apologies and enjoy.

On the set with Susan. Always fun to reconnect with coworkers - especially when they're named Susan Lennon. The two of us crossed paths in this news market more than 20 years ago when we worked for competing stations and had toddlers in tow. Then we became true colleagues in 2008 when we were both hired at the launch of @fox5sandiego. I'll never forget our first time working side by side, we hit it off immediately ~ let's just say, there was a lot of laughter. And we're still laughing but with kids in college now and beyond! May you have people in your work life that crossover into your personal one...that you feel genuinely grateful for. And if you do - tell them. I did today. 😉

An Indelible Mark. San Diego lost a true original Friday. Sculptor & artist James T. Hubbell passed away at the age of 92. This is a story we did with him at his "hand built" home for our show "Explore San Diego". I was always so proud of this program and thrilled to profile the people and places in it. A shared love with my Executive Producer, now Assistant News Director, Ruby Chen. Watch this piece and you'll see why. Meeting genuinely unique people on this planet, who carve out their own way of life is one of the best things about being a journalist. May Mr. Hubbell's art be something his friends and family can hold onto for years to come.
