Founder of brightonSEO - World's largest SEO conference & tradeshow and organiser of Hero Conf the biggest event in PPC and Paid Social Advertising.

We're playing about with the formats for #brightonSEO in the UK this October and wanted to get some feedback on topics and the ideas in general. *Roundtables* - we've run these for a few years focussed around sector and job title, like agency owner, in-house ecommerce, agency head of SEO etc, there's usually about 12 people informal discussions. - Any ideas for topics for these you'd like to attend? - Do you like roundtables as a format? - What makes for a good roundtable? *Masterclasses* - a new thing, thinking about a 60-90 minutes slot, about 20-30 attendees, more in-depth and interactive than our usual conference talks. Aimed at more experienced attendees, more discussion, maybe more "laptop open and try thing thing" Might be topics like agency growth masterclass, paid media for ecommerce masterclass, Google tag manager debugging masterclass etc Would this be a format you'd be interested in attending? Any ideas for topics or masterclass host ideas? Thanks in advanced my lovely Linkedin focus group/connections!

Roundtables are great - it would also be good to see these broken up a bit more (especially for those attending alone) so there’s tech SEO, content, PR, link building etc - just becauae they’re pretty good brain storming sessions and it gives people a chance to digest the talks.

Hey Kelvin Newman, I love all of these ideas. The only question I have is how do attendees sign up to them? I've only attended twice but I never felt like these were promoted to me. I then hear about people attending such sessions and feel like they were invite-only or a paid extra. Is that the case?

I love the idea of roundtables and debates. We all have so many opinions, but those are driven off of perspectives. Having someone's perspective is key and the interactions on stage sometimes can be magical.

Well I've pitched SEO talks aimed at startups for years now with no luck, but SEO talks aimed at startups

Roundtables are wicked. Realtime knowledge sharing in a comfy environment, which also acts as a great social experience if you're part of a specific group (freelancers, Devs, pr peeps etc). Would be good to see what appetites there are for each area via a survey? I do want freelancers to be a staple please lol. And masterclass would be great. Maybe scheduled in the middle and end of days perhaps where people who have seen a talk then have a chance to delve into the ppraticals of applying those fresh ideas with the same speakers, like "now to show real-time examples of this, and let's live audit your stuff"...

I like the idea in principle, but I think these kinds of format can sometimes struggle to be engaging. Partly due to length, partly due to lacking the narrative/pace/structure of a traditional talk. Plus, it ends up getting quite close to what I'd be doing if I was talking shop in the pub. Then again, I'm choosing to watch presentations that are quite similar to a YouTube format. Why not choose to watch presentations that are quite similar to a podcast format? Clearly there is something to be had here, I'm just not quite sure what.

I've attended many roundtables (In-House E-commerce) in the past and it's always good to meet like-minded people in similar roles. I like the idea of longer masterclasses to go more in-depth. Especially in technical SEO please, such as related to Python, or automating processes to make your life easier. Or just really cool things that cannot be (fully) explained in a 20-min slot, such as in-depth about the Google algorithm, or rendering, etc. Note: please don't have similar in-depth technical SEO talks during that masterclass timeslot, or I will have more choice stress!

I would LOVE to lead a Looker Studio masterclass.

I visit regularly a DACH Roundtable as an in-house SEO these topics are really interesting as roundtable and masterclass: Global SEO Strategies Adapting to Cultural and Linguistic Differences Goal: Provide practical tips and strategies to effectively reach global target markets and integrate cultural sensitivity into SEO strategies. Cross-Channel Marketing in an International Context: Integrating SEO, PPC, and Social Media Goal: Demonstrate how various digital marketing channels can work together to develop a coherent and effective international marketing strategy.
