The team continues to grow, and today we are thrilled to introduce Shriram Shrungarkar, our new working student! He brings a fresh perspective and a strong eagerness to learn, which will undoubtedly contribute to our ongoing projects and innovation. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐚𝐭 𝐄𝐑𝐂? I have recently joined #ERC as a Working Student within the Aircraft Conceptual Design team, working closely with my supervisor, Artur Usbek. My primary responsibilities include developing supporting software tools for the aircraft design optimization loop. In addition, I am implementing handbook methods to complement some of the existing complex models required to size the aircraft. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 / 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐫𝐞/ 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦)? Entering the #aerospace industry for the first time during my studies has been an exciting experience. The challenge lies in getting accustomed to company practices while delivering with precision in a fast-paced start-up. Moreover, conceptual design is the starting point of any new aircraft project, requiring a solid understanding and feel for the aircraft as a whole. To tackle these challenges, it is crucial to seek support and positively embrace all feedback and new insights from my experienced colleagues. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐑𝐂? Currently, I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aerospace at the Technical University of Munich. At university, I have been actively involved in #eVTOL student clubs, taking advanced courses, and participating in hackathons. My passion for #aviation extends beyond university studies, and I take every opportunity—from internships to hobbies—to constantly expand my horizons in the aerospace domain. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮? Simply stated, I get to learn continuously and have the opportunity to witness the vision of sustainable air mobility being crafted into reality. 🤝Collaboration with international students🤝   We're excited to embark on this journey of partnership with students and educational institutions. Intercable Automotive Solutions collaborated with three students from Berufskolleg Tecklenburger Land (Germany). David, Joshua and Simon worked on a project together with the Advanced Quality Engineering (AQE) department - within the Laboratory they designed and created a Slow-Motion-Bending Machine for lifetime testing of cables lug connections. 🎉 End of Internship Reflections 🎉 As I wrap up my incredible journey at IonKraft, I can’t help but feel a mixture of emotions: gratitude, joy, and a touch of sadness. It’s been a transformative year filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences with the most wonderful team. 🌟 Key takeaways from the Internship: During my internship, I delved deep into understanding the complexities of the plastic packaging industry, particularly focusing on the evolving landscape shaped by new regulations and sustainability goals in the EU. The industry is at a critical juncture, with mounting pressures to adopt sustainable practices and reduce plastic waste. I gained invaluable insights into the challenges and opportunities inherent in transitioning to a circular economy model for plastic packaging.  This exploration was instrumental in shaping my master's thesis, titled "Investigating the Circular Economy and Plastic Packaging Landscape: Developing a Conceptual Framework for a Circular Plastic Packaging Value Chain." The theis underscores the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration among value chain actors in implementing guidelines to ensure a successful transition to a circular plastic economy. The proposed framework serves as a pivotal guide for policymakers, businesses, and consumers, enriching the existing body of knowledge on the circular economy and the plastic packaging industry. 💼 Projects I worked on: I had the opportunity to contribute to the procurement management process and CRM process and building communication & promotion strategy. The absolute highlight would be building an impactful pitch deck and conducting market research on the plastic packaging industry. 🔜 Gratitude and Next Steps: I’m immensely grateful to Benedikt Heuer for their guidance, support, and invaluable feedback. 30.11.2023 Let's write internship and thesis. It's time to reflect on this incredible journey. A heartfelt thank you to FEV Europe GmbH for the platform given to build up my practical know-hows. These 8 months flew by, surrounded by supportive colleagues and bosses, einfach wunderbar! Furthermore, working together with colleagues from diverse academic backgrounds and experiences was a joy. The vast sea of knowledge I experienced was, einfach krass! Approaching the second phase to complete my thesis presented an absolute challenge. Seeking advice from senior engineers on thesis writing and one memorable response stood up: "You're expecting engineers to write? heads up, address the problem that matters". My Vega Tek Hub Journey as a Biomedical Engineer intern! Transitioning from college life to the desk job world has been quite a shift, but my internship at Vega Tek Hub has been a game-changer. Since joining the team on September 1st, 2023, I've been immersed in the exciting realm of surgical gown innovation. My role is all about shaping the future of surgical gowns. I've been involved in in-depth research, ensuring our designs meet rigorous standards, managing risks, and even designing manufacturing processes. Experimentation, especially in line with FDA requirements, has been a vital part of my journey. One of the most rewarding aspects of this internship is collaborating to acquire specialized equipment essential for our projects. We're working on groundbreaking ideas aligned with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) objectives, and it's incredibly fulfilling. Vega Tek Hub doesn't just offer work opportunities; it provides a platform for growth. I'm looking forward to exploring NSF grants and taking on additional projects within the company, which will undoubtedly elevate my skills and experience. Working alongside industry experts, I've been able to apply my academic knowledge and prior internship experiences to make a genuine impact on our projects, right from their inception to their eventual use by healthcare professionals worldwide. This experience has ignited my passion for Biomedical Engineering, research, and development, enabling me to directly influence the healthcare sector. I'm excited to continue contributing to these remarkable projects and playing a crucial role in shaping the medical industry. [INTERVIEW] 📰 Time flies when you're making a difference! It has already been one year since Novacel's apprentices joined the Deville-lès-Rouen site. Over the past year, these students/workers have been trained while strengthening our teams across various business lines, including Purchasing, Human Resources, R&D, Maintenance, Energy Performance, Marketing, and IT. With the start of the new school year just approaching, it's the perfect time to catch up with them and get some feedback! Let's start today with Léa Chevalier, a Student in Master 2 in Polymers, Biomaterials and Ecomaterials at Université de Rouen Normandie and Apprentice in Research and Innovation. ❔ Could you introduce yourself? ➡️ My name is Léa Chevalier, and I’m pursuing a Master 2 in Polymers, Biomaterials and Ecomaterials in a work-study program at Novacel since September 2022. ❔ What are your daily tasks? ➡️ In Research and Innovation, we work on a wide range of projects ranging from coextrusion to analysis and measurement. We work on varnishes, adhesives or films, and one of the year’s big subjects was the OXYGEN range, with the incorporation of recycled materials. ❔ What skills or knowledge have you developed since joining the company? ➡️ I’ve gained a lot in terms of autonomy, and I’m more at ease with social interaction since joining the company, and as a scientist, I’ve learned a lot. ❔ What do you particularly like at Novacel? ➡️ How well I get on with my colleagues. It’s really nice to work every day with people you get on well with. My daily work is also very stimulating. ❔ What are your plans for next year? ➡️ I was fortunate that Novacel offered to extend my contract for another year.
