To celebrate Fathers Day this Sunday, I wanted to share some personal values with you that my father has instilled in me. My Dad who is also a business owner, and operater of a successful engineering company has been one of my greatest mentors and biggest supporter. He has given me the confidence and knowledge I’ve needed to step into my power as a woman both in life and in business. Five things I learnt from my father in life and business. 1. Be ambitious, but do not have an ambition. Remain unincumbered to pursue the many opportunities that greet you every day. 2. Do not cheat and lie in business or life; integrity is the most valuable asset one can possess. 3. Ensure that your business has a real purpose other than to make a profit. Money is not the motivator in business; money is nothing but the fuel that enables one to reach their destination. 4. Being alone does not make one lonely. It is necessary to be alone in one’s thoughts so as to be creative, to unwind, and to reflect. 5. Not all your competitors are your enemy, and suppliers and customers may not be your friend; the foundation of business is built upon integrity, performance, and respect.

TEDx & Keynote Speaker🎤| Awardwinning Author 📖Unfinished Business: Breaking Down Great Wall Between Adult Child & Immigrant Parents |MentalFitness Coach| I help Ambitious Women be seen, be heard, f-ing rock the boat⛵️
SUPER STOKED for the upcoming fireside chat on Aug 23 with SASE to discuss my book: "Unfinished Business: Breaking Down the Great Wall Between Adult Child and Immigrant Parents." We'll start to unravel the intergenerational crap that continues to be passed from one generation to another. The healing that needs to happen... and it's these vulnerable conversations with those that are closest to us, those who matter the most to us that can start the healing process, both for ourselves and for them. Registration is complimentary at https://ow.ly/vg3i50PuU7I And let me tell you about the power that these open conversations with our parents can have... A few weeks ago, on Saturday morning at 6am, Papa Yip drove me to the airport to attend a speakers conference. "You must be really tired," I said to Papa Yip as I hopped in the car. "I appreciate you taking me." Papa Yip eyed me with a big grin then said, "I'm full of energy! Seeing my daughter go do her thing gives me energy." Can you imagine my face? My jaw dropped... who is this man in front of me?! My father from when I was 10 would never have said something like this. What changed our relationship? My curiosity to ask about his stories. My willingness to listen to his life experiences. And my ability to keep returning to those hard conversations even though a part of me wanted to run away. These were hard conversations. A lot of emotions: resentment, anger, hurt surfaced during these 40+ hours over 3 years. I wanted to give up many times. I didn't. And I'm glad I didn't. In many ways, Papa Yip has healed because I gave him the greatest gift of all: a listening ear. And I've healed. I truly believe, we can all heal. It isn't easy, but it can get easier. #communication #mindset #opendialogue #immigrantstories #culturalunderstanding #AAPI #healingconversations #intergenerationalhealing #UnfinishedBusiness #amyyip #amyyipcoaching
Join our fireside chat Wednesday, August 23, with Life Transformation Coach, Amy Yip, PCC. There is a universal struggle many of us face in our relationships with our parents: the pursuit of their approval, the weight of their expectations, and the burden of unspoken obligations. Unresolved, these burdens get passed onto future generations. Join us for an intimate coffee chat with Amy Yip, author of "Unfinished Business: Breaking Down the Great Wall Between Adult Child and Immigrant Parents." Sponsorship is generously provided by Stanley Black & Decker. Registration is complimentary at https://ow.ly/vg3i50PuU7I

This right here 👇🏾👇🏾 “Dream small dreams. If you make them too big, you get overwhelmed and you don't do anything. If you make small goals and accomplish them, it gives you the confidence to go on to higher goals." ~ John H. Johnson, American businessman and publisher. One of our four core values at Winona IT, LLC is to 'Act with Integrity and Respect'. The term integrity stems from the Latin word 'integritas', meaning wholeness and completeness. I used to think acting with integrity meant telling the truth, but that's only a small part of it. We have to be honest in our dealings, transparent in our actions, and consistent in our values. We need to be committed to do the right thing even when it's not the easy choice. That's what's really meant by "making the situation whole". Incorporating acting with integrity and respect into our professional lives can have many positive outcomes. It can really foster a culture of trust and accountability, enhance your reputation, and help build lasting relationships. To sum it all up, Dr. Henry Cloud uses the example of a wake behind a boat. The boat represents you moving through your professional career. The one side of the wake represents results - we need to deliver on what is required of us. The other side of the wake represents the positive relationships we build and the people we touch along the way. To operate with integrity is to emphasize the importance of both. As a leader I need to grow in and emphasize both to be the leader I want to be - full of integrity.
