An incredible thank you to AROSE, Arizona State University, Michael Fogg, Dann Garcia, and Sheri Klug Boonstra for the opportunity to participate in the inaugural AROSE Milo Mission Academy for Australia/New Zealand. Over the past three months, I have been on an enlightening journey, and yesterday, we delivered our final presentation to Michelle Keegan from AROSE and ASU, receiving high praise for the quality of our work.
The program aimed to educate future Australian aerospace innovators about the NASA mission lifecycle through an intensive 12-week lecture series with esteemed guests from NASA and ASU affiliates. Our sessions covered a wide range of topics, including team culture from "How NASA Builds Teams," mission planning using JMARS, transforming ideas into mission plans, risk management, and systems engineering. We also explored science traceability matrices to map scientific goals to mission requirements.
We had the privilege of learning from outstanding professionals such as Sheri Klug Boonstra, Orlando Figueroa, Dr. Jim Rice, Scott Dickenshied, Phil Christensen, Dr. Jim Bell, Richard Warwick, David Thomas, Mehul Patel, and Dr. Craig Hardgrove. These experts brought incredible skills and experiences ranging from Mars mission engineering, space education and outreach, planetary geology, mission operations, and more.
As the sole electrical engineer on my team, I dedicated countless hours each week to researching and creating subassemblies for power generation, storage, and distribution. This hands-on experience taught me about many things, including proper electrical isolation and grounding for spacecraft. I also achieved all skill modules, earning badges in Teaming, Requirements, Systems, Project Management, Risks, and Heat Transfer.
I am incredibly grateful to my teammates for their support and collaboration: Aidan Kynn, Jessica Ovens, Philipp Zanon, Sepehr Saryazdi, Steven Ayles, Jessica Sylvia Clement, Matthew Kolb, Logan Mazur, Aishwarya Rao-Nandkumar, Lucy Clowes, Alice Dohet, Charlie Flockart, Harshita Yadav, and Bethany Burgess. Their dedication was truly inspiring.
This journey has been an extraordinary experience of growth and learning, and I am excited to apply these skills to future endeavours in the aerospace field. Additionally, I am keen to bring these new skills to the Swinburne Rover Team, where I look forward to contributing to our upcoming projects as Team Lead.
Thank you to Swinburne University of Technology and Rebecca Allen for sponsoring my place in this academy, and thank you AROSE and Arizona State University, for this incredible opportunity!
