***Transverse Cracking*** What is transverse cracking? An unconnected crack that runs perpendicular to the direction of traffic. Causes: Reflection of shrinkage cracks or joints from a cemented base. Joints or cracks formed during asphalt surfacing, often due to low temperatures or hardening bitumen. -allure in the concrete base's structure Shrinkage of the concrete slab as it cures because the joints were cut too late, or the slab is too long. Ground sinking due to underground utilities or structures like bridges or culverts. Tree roots growing into the layers beneath the pavement. Treatments: Crack seal SAM seals, reinforced seals, ultra-thin overlays SAMI or geotextile seal plus asphalt overlay Cold planing and overlay In situ asphalt recycling Contact me today Adam@pavementforce.com #propertymanagement #property #pavement #asphalt #construction

Concrete pavements are widely used for roads, runways, and other heavy-duty applications due to their durability, strength, and low maintenance requirements. However, just like asphalt pavements, concrete pavements are also susceptible to developing distresses that impact their performance, safety, and appearance. Common distresses found in concrete pavement include: 1. Blowups 2. Corner breaks 3. Durability cracking 4. Faulting 5. Joint seal damage 6. Longitudinal cracking 7. Map cracking 8. Patch 9. Polished aggregate 10. Popouts 11. Pumping 12. Punchout 13. Separation 14. Shoulder drop-off 15. Spalling of joints 16. Transverse cracking #concrete #Structure #Concretetechnology

What is unique about this picture? The concrete slab is pretty standard, the human also looks relatively standard 😄What is unique is the spray applied hydrogel which is being applied to the concrete which is penetrating the concrete as much as 150 mm, far beyond any rebar, densifying the slab, waterproofing it from the inside out, and preventing corrosion from taking place. #concreteconstruction #rebar #corrosionprevention

𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞: 𝐀 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐫𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 Shotcrete is used in various applications, which include underground construction, water retaining structure, protective coating, and repair works. Download Report Sample PDF: https://bit.ly/41dmlxQ Shotcrete, commonly known as gunite or sprayed concrete is mortar or concrete propelled through a hose and pneumatically projected from a nozzle at high velocity on a vertical surface, as a widely used construction technique. The concrete is generally reinforced by conventional Steel mesh, steel rods or fibers. Cement gun is mostly used in dry mix process, while true gun method is used in wet mix process in the application of sprayed concrete. Shotcrete has properties, such as good water-concrete ratio, excellent strength, high density & permeability, freeze & thaw resistance, high adhesion & bond strength, and thickness. Revenue growth of the global shotcrete market is significantly driven by increasing applications in repair and concrete construction activities. As shotcrete is a very agile construction material, it is widely used in numerous construction works. Shotcrete repairs are considered to be the most reliable and inexpensive solution, since corrosion of concrete happens on wide vertical surfaces, thereby eliminating the need for expensive conventional methods. #shotcrete #construction #tunnelconstruction #concreteconstruction

Did you know that the rubber hammer test can estimate the compressive strength of concrete by measuring the rebound of a hammer? It’s a quick and easy way to check the quality of concrete structures. #civilengineering #reboundhammer #concretetesting How do you test the strength of concrete without breaking it? One method is the rubber hammer test, which uses a spring-loaded hammer to hit the concrete surface and measure the rebound distance. The higher the rebound, the harder and stronger the concrete. #reboundhammer #concretetesting #civilengineering The rubber hammer test is a non-destructive method for testing the hardness and strength of concrete. It works by hitting the concrete with a hammer and measuring how far it bounces back. The rebound distance is proportional to the strength of the concrete. #concretetesting #reboundhammer #civilengineering

Concrete Cold joint is a phenomenon that occurs due to the lack of bonding or intermixing of the two concrete layers with each other. The cold concrete joint is a crack that is found in the hardened concrete due to improper intermixing and bonding between the two consecutive layers of the concrete. Cold joints in the concrete are one type of damage that is developed in the concrete due to an improper concreting operation, which may lead to a reduction in the strength and durability of the concrete. The presence of cold joints badly impacts the performance of the concrete. The cold joints are formed between the two layers of concrete when the second layer is placed after the vibration limit of the first. The cold joints are generally linear, closely joined, and bonded. #concreteconstruction #concreteindustry #castingdirectors #concretepumping #concretework #constructionmanagement #constructionplanning #planningengineer #planningapproval
