With resinous flooring applications vapor transmission is a common problem with new and existing concrete substrates. This is when water gets pushed up through the concrete from hydrostatic pressure, which can cause discolorations, blistering and bubbling to your finished epoxy floor. The means to address potential flooring failure with any epoxy coating is to perform RH moisture tests. Everlast performs moisture testing with every install. Upon moisture testing we can determine if a moisture vapor mitigation primer is needed. Everlast Industrial Flooring does offer moisture vapor barrier primers and resinous flooring options with built-in vapor mitigation systems. #moisturecontrol #epoxyflooring #procedures #flooringexperts #floorcoating #flooringcontractors #therightway #durableflooring #concreteflooring

In the realm of moisture detection, precision and non-invasiveness are key. That's where the Moisture Encounter MEX5 shines, leveraging advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technology to measure moisture content effectively without damaging the material. The MEX5 is equipped with material-specific scales designed for wood, drywall, plaster, tile, roofing, and masonry. For wood, it provides %MC readings between 0 and 30%. For other materials, it offers comparative REL readings (0-99), ensuring accurate moisture detection across various densities. https://lnkd.in/eMKbbHs9

DID YOU KNOW That humidity probes do not actually measure concrete moisture? Concrete moisture exists in a liquid form, which cannot be detected by humidity probes. Concrete contains various hydrophilic, hygroscopic, and even deliquescent elements, such as aggregates of different sizes, surface areas, and shapes. These components attract and absorb moisture, making it resistant to evaporation. Additionally, alkaline components like sodium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide contribute to moisture absorption and may lead to issues like ASR and ACR. Humidity probes cannot measure these elements accurately, as they focus on vapor moisture only. Humidity probes measure where the concrete isn't, such as voids and cracks, rather than the concrete itself." If Humidity probes work so well, Why do we still have flooring failures due to “MOISTURE” I got this information from Robert Higgins

We love solving flooring problems like this one. The quarry tile floor at this municipal cemetery was badly stained and often wet, causing slip hazards for visitors. So we replaced it with a moisture-mitigating epoxy floor and high-performance coating. Now they have a durable floor that eliminates issues from moisture, temperature changes, and heavy traffic. First, we removed the existing quarry tile. Then we installed a moisture-mitigating epoxy to solve the moisture problem with their slab, placed ½" overall self-leveling cement, and on top, we installed a Dur-A-Flex, Inc. Hybri-Flex MB system. This system ensures great moisture resistance and thermal cycling tolerance, and the high-performance coating protects from staining and adds slip resistance. Here’s a time-lapse video to give a glimpse of our work in progress on this project. #GPFlooringSolutions #newyork #flooringinstallation #newflooring #floormakeover #fusealliance

Biggest problem today in the epoxy flooring industry is MVT! Why? Because MVT IS ONLY RELEVANT ON DAYS TESTED! Meaning there may only be a seasonal issue that goes undetected the rest of the year! Therefore all below grade or slab on grade concrete gets a moisture reduction barrier primer!!! No exceptions! Cost of doing good business! #epoxysolutions #wefixbadconcrete #epoxyflooring
