Why is Aalto at Slush? We've been here since day one as Slush was born and transformed into the event it is today in the hands of our students at Aalto Entrepreneurship Society. The longer answer is, it all boils down to innovations, which are at the core of startup entrepreneurship. Innovations, especially the ones with impact – the game-changers for the sustainable future of our planet – rely heavily on science. 💫 💡   It takes persistence to change the world, so what would be the secret ingredient that gives Aalto the entrepreneurial kick? We are delighted to announce that we have completed a strategy and action plan for the health technology and services sector for the years 2023–2028 in collaboration with TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology. 🔬The goal of the plan is to have 200 research-intensive startups with international ambitions operating in this sector in Estonia by the end of the decade, one of which would hopefully reach unicorn status with a valuation over 1 billion dollars. 🗣  Tõnu Esko, the Vice Rector for Development of the University of Tartu, stated that the university has a strong desire to contribute as much as possible to the implementation of the strategy: "In many of these 200 companies, scientists from the university and doctors from Tartu University Hospital, along with our research-intensive ideas, counselling, and unique scientific infrastructure, will likely play a significant role."   Read the strategy and action plan in Estonian 👇 https://lnkd.in/dzf682jb #collaboration #health #technology

PUPA 2022-23: A Maker’s Movement (~October, 2022 - 11th February, 2023) #PUPA is an accelerated entrepreneurial experience, annually conducted by #CTIE through #mib for #students that allows them to convert their idea into a product and eventually sell it to make a profit. In addition to seed capital, teams receive time and support from the club to design and develop their ideas. This was the first event in my MiB #journey where I truly felt like an #organizer. To facilitate communication, teams were divided into panels of 10-15. My role was to track these panels and ensure interaction with the participants. Being part of the content team added another layer to this, as I already had existing tasks in that area. I honed my ability to explain complex processes thoroughly, address a wide range of participant questions, and develop strong organizational and scheduling skills. All of this required immense patience. The most #exciting moment? It was when the first participant sent us their product photo. That's when I knew things were really underway. The excitement grew as students passionately explained their ideas on calls. When I took up the Hult Prize, UNILAG Startups coordinator role, I knew nothing about the role. But as I preach, I believe that a lot of things, soft and technical skills could be learnt if one wanted to. So I took it on and studied my deliverables, expectations and obligations. It's a journey of growth for me, especially in an area I didn't expect. More backend duties, insights and collaborations, unlike the programs I attend as a participant. I'm glad our efforts are proving to be impactful. We had our orientation meeting, which I moderated today. We got to meet some of the participants and it was lovely. These are highly motivated individuals and every one of them deserves a chance to bring their ideas out of their heads and I to the world to serve people. And that's our goal at Hult Prize Unilag; to be able to support them throughout this journey. I hope to be able to connect with the participants as needed and also support them in creating products and making waves around the world. Getting to know innovations from the University of Bremen and the resulting start-ups – that is what the visit of a delegation from the Bremen Chamber of Commerce on January 15, 2024 was all about. The delegation, which was made up of representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Bremen Aufbau Bank, Die Sparkasse Bremen AG, as well as representatives from the Bremen business community, visited various research institutions at the University of Bremen. These included the Cognitive Systems Lab, BIBA - Bremer Institut für Produktion und Logistik GmbH, and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence. In addition to the research units, some promising start-ups from the university also had the opportunity to introduce themselves. The University of Bremen supports the development of start-ups in a variety of ways. With the UniTransfer department, there are also structures in place that increase the innovation potential of research and effectively support application-oriented solutions. BRIDGE - Gründen aus Bremer Hochschulen in particular, which is part of the UniTransfer department, plays a decisive role in the development of projects into successful start-ups.
