My advice to anyone who wants to be an OT is to be prepared to work hard. Graduate studies can be incredibly stressful, but if you stay committed, the rewards are limitless. Another important piece of advice is to know yourself and your mental health needs. As an OT, you'll be helping others navigate difficult challenges, and it's important to take care of yourself first. Lastly, I would say to be willing to try new things and make your own opportunities. If you see a company that looks interesting, reach out and make a connection. Even if it doesn't work out right away, maintain that connection and prove your commitment. Remember, your determination and hard work will always pay off in the end.
