All Things Career. Salary Negotiations, Career Management, Executive Mindset. A little clarity goes a long way.
As this article points out, trauma can sometimes make people valuable employees, at great cost to themselves. This is why I do a full family and career history for every client I work with. Career struggles often have their roots in a person's childhood. Clients often can't see this, and rely on us to help them make the connection. I am so glad that the connection between trauma and career is finally getting traction in our field. Thanks to all who are doing the research, speaking and training to make Trauma-Informed Career Counseling standard practice. https://lnkd.in/e-yy-jKr

For anyone who has done or is doing it, we recognize that job search can really mess with our minds. Founder of Dream Life Counselling, Career and Personal Counselor, Author of the book "LIFE IS A PRECIOUS GIFT", Life Coach, Parenting Coach, Color therapist and an Educator
Mental and Emotional health checkups should be priority same as physical health checkups ? As a Counselor, 👩💻I strongly believe that mental and emotional health checkups should be performed regularly for individuals, just like physical health checkups. The mental and emotional aspects of health are just as relevant and important as physical health, and are often overlooked. Here are some of the benefits of regular mental and emotional health checkups: 1) Early identification of mental health issues: Regular checkups can help identify problems early on, before they become more severe and harder to treat.🧠🤯😑 2) Managing stress: Checkups can provide a stress management plan that can prevent the negative consequences of stress, such as anxiety, depression, and physical health problems.🤕 3) Improving relationships: Good mental and emotional health improves the quality of life, strengthening our relationships with ourselves and others.🫂🫂 4) Building resilience: The mental and emotional aspects of health can be strengthened through evidence-based practices, which build resilience and prevent future mental health issues.👥️👥️ 5) Improving productivity: Good mental and emotional health can improve an individual's productivity, including work, studies, and personal life.🧘♀️🧘🤼♂️🤼♀️ In conclusion, regular mental and emotional health checkups can improve our overall well-being. It's time to break the stigma and make mental health a priority in our lives. Professional Counselors will help you to come out of your painful zone. Feeling Proud 😊 Sometimes I get a little annoyed when I see on here those slogans that read something like… ‘dream big you can achieve whatever you want’ as although the sentiment is always well meant they aren’t necessarily true or based in reality as a dream is simply that until actions are put in place. Over the last year a dream festering in my brain was meticulously researched, planned, built and in recent weeks delivered! The idea of building a platform that would enable mental health professionals (and trainees) to list their own counselling and supervision needs allowing a multitude of supervisors to bid on them is now a reality. This innovative platform enables this need to be met quickly, easily and cost effectively. I did not know if an audience would entirely understand the concept straight away but this week, we had our first trainee psychotherapist post a listing and after receiving bids from Supervisors secured their sessions in the modality they wanted, at a price mutually beneficial to both parties 😊 this has made me so happy. Although I had hoped to have a few more active users from launch I am so pleased that we have qualified therapists and students signed up and benefitting from this great resource. As they say great oaks come from the smallest of acorns. I don’t know what the future has in store but I can only hope that organically the site grows from strength to strength. I wanted to put this post out there as achievements are rarely individual and I have been so lucky to have an incredible team behind me from my tech development team, all the mental health professionals who have helped in my research and of course my beautiful fiancée who is a rock in those times where things aren’t going so well (and when the development costs are enough to make your eyes water, it’s a hard and costly job making anything difficult appear simple!) I hope to bring more innovation, cost savings and simplicity to this sector in the future but for now welcome all to https://lnkd.in/gPu3mi-y Warmest Regards James (Founder) #counsellor #psychotherapy #supervisor #trainee #counsellingpsychologist #therapist

During this past year I've had incredible experiences and a lot of time away from the corporate workplace to reflect on what my true nature is, and what I want and don't want from life and my career moving forward. Today, I was just reminded of the importance of listening to my gut and following my intuition, even in the workplace. My gut had been telling me for months something wasn't right with my boss. I know and understand this now as being gaslit. Here's a compilation of signs to look out for when dealing with a boss who is potentially gaslighting you: - They use personal knowledge to manipulate situations - They make you feel crazy, sensitive, or ashamed - They avoid transparency to throw off expectations - They don't see a need to write stuff down, they'll flip flop later - They turns others against you or find ways to isolate you - They never provide full details - They frequently changes job duties without discussion or reason - They contradict themselves to confuse you about your role and responsibilities - They make you feel like you’re never doing enough, even when you’re doing everything Here are some things to help you if you find yourself in a similar situation: 1) Trust your intuition! 2) Stay grounded and confident in yourself 3) Set boundaries 4) Keep a journal, log and/or documentation of proof of lies, behavior's, etc. 5) Seek professional help Also, below is really good a resource provided by PESI, a non profit, on understanding Gaslighting, including techniques a gaslighter will use, signs an individual is being gaslit and assertive responses to gaslighting. We are all on a journey throughout life, and learning and evolving is part of it. Tuning into my emotions is a gift that I will never dismiss again. Your experiences and feelings are real, and valid, and they should never be used against you. I know what's best for me.
