Who knows me knows how much I care about the development of #basketball in #Denmark as I've been living for 3 years in what I consider my second home. Tonight is a great chance for Danmarks Basketball Forbund to reach a great achievement, in this article one of the best basketball journalists in Italy, Cesare Milanti discusses with Virtus Segafredo Bologna point guard, ex Phoenix Suns and growing in the youth sector of Falcon Basketball Klub, Iffe Lundberg, about this matter. Kom nu Danmark! 🇩🇰 🏀 🇮🇹 Eurohoops Organization Danmarks Idrætsforbund (DIF) Team Danmark
Denmark will soon start chasing the dream of making it to an International tournament, led by the first-ever Danish to play in the NBA and EuroLeague. For the official FIBA EuroBasket website, I spoke with Iffe Lundberg, who is "trying to put basketball on the map in Denmark".

⚽ The Perfect Soccer Storm: A Fan's Feast or Fatigue? ⚽ 🏆 With CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 kicking off tomorrow, global Soccer fans will spend the next month being spoiled with the best players competing across Europe and The Americas. 🚨 As Copa América has alternated between four-year and three-year cycles, it's a rare occurrence for both Copa and the UEFA EURO 2024 to be held in the same year. In fact, this is only the 3rd time in history that both competitions have been hosted in the same summer. ❓ But will fans be overwhelmed by the volume of matches? Here at some thoughts I have heading into the football-festive period: 🌍 𝐌𝐋𝐒 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: There are eight players from MLS teams who are representing their country at the Euros, which is the highest number in recent years. Could we see an increase in MLS fans tuning in to see their players from their favourite team compete on the European stage? 🗽 𝐄𝐲𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐧 2026: Hosting Copa América can be a valuable learning experience for the US as they gear up for the 2026 World Cup. What can they take away from this tournament? 🏅 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲: Will the MLS season lose momentum with 48 (40 in Copa América 8 in the Euros) of its top players playing for their country over the next month? How will League leaders Inter Miami cope without stars like Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Matias Rojas? 📈 It feels like a really exciting summer to be a Soccer fan. Let me know what games you will be watching and what you are looking forward to seeing throughout a summer of Soccer. #CopaAmerica #Euro2024 #MLS #Football #Soccer

Such outstanding performance by the US Referee TEAM led by Ekaterina (Katja) Koroleva on England v. Colombia quarter-final, that the untrained eye might almost have overlooked the on-field officials. They say it’s a “win” if the fans don’t notice the refs, but peers, match inspectors, and assignors surely noticed: 1) excellent teamwork between Katja and her ARs, 4th, and VARs; 2) player-referee mutual respect, empathy, and personality that de-fused emotional situations and rising tempers at key moments, including injuries, confrontations, and potentially explosive changes in momentum; 3) the proactive involvement of ARs Kathryn Nesbitt and Felisha Mariscal that demonstrate how U.S. Soccer Federation and #CONCACAFCONCACAF expectations for AR assertiveness (even in the VAR era) leads to better player management, clearer signaling (even in the headset era) for fans, players, benches, and even commentators (those in-the-know, at least) to understand re-starts and what’s happening next…e.g. directing ball placement, recognizing time wasting, and acknowledging other potential flash-points with their voice, non-official signaling, and multilingual & non-verbal communication – not always easy to follow on TV, but evident on the camera’s periphery. Not a single caution/yellow card was issued, because for such a high-level matchup featuring two very different styles of play, Katja set the bar high for game flow, allowing incidental physical contact and occasional displays of emotion, without losing control for an instant, because she recognized at these latter stages of the tournament, a “cheap foul” or “cheap yellow” could mean a player suspension for the semifinal. Even tactical fouls were addressed directly, without over-reaction, and gained player acceptance of the calls. Top referees are expected to understand context and anticipate the unexpected. Katja was never out of position to observe, but used her presence, whistle, and other tools of the trade judiciously. So fans enjoyed a great match where the players determined the outcome, no questions asked, and none of the unfortunate injuries to Colombians were seen as anything but unlucky.

Once again, I will be rooting for TWO U.S. teams at FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ as U.S. Soccer Federation referees represent the growth of the game and women’s role in the sport, led by trailblazing hero Kari Seitz at FIFA and the latest crop of leading officials like Tori Penso Ekaterina (Katja) Koroleva Kathryn Nesbitt, PhD Felisha Mariscal and TN’s own Brooke Mayo. Good luck to them and Armando Villareal in the VAR booth! https://lnkd.in/dAtgxJb3
