MAD//FEST is back - bigger and better this year - and Propeller Group is proud to be a partner of its Female Leaders' Club line up. Jocelyn Wright Medhurst, Associate Director at Propeller Group, will be hosting a fascinating fireside chat on Wednesday 3rd July at 3.45pm with Jasmine Dawson, Senior Vice President of Digital at BBC Studios, which will explore: 'What can Bluey teach us about creating content that resonates with multiple generations?' For those who have been hiding under a rock, Bluey is the multi-award winning and cult children’s show that is beloved by both children and parents across the world. The discussion will focus on how creating meaningful content can reach audiences of different generations, and what brands can learn about creating truly impactful content that feels authentic and relatable. We hope to see you at this session and do look out for the Propeller team who will be at MAD//FEST throughout the week. #madfest2024 #marketing #media #femaleleadersclub

In the end, long-term storytelling has always win.
We keep being told that audience attention spans are ever-diminishing, with both publishers and platforms doubling down on short-form vertical video. Yet two of the biggest sports stories of 2024 so far in the US have been the culmination of years-long narratives and deep investment in individual stories. A thought-provoking article from John WallStreet on how sport is and isn't able to create stars who transcend into mainstream cultural consciousness in the modern media landscape.

💥💥💥🚀 Meta unveils Horizon OS, the "Android of VR," and Apple's main rival to visionOS. Waiting for Google and Android XR? In the new mixed reality world, Meta doesn't want to let Apple (visionOS) and Google (Android XR) rehash the same duel as in the smartphone market. The company announces Meta Horizon OS, an evolution of the Quest headset operating system that all manufacturers can use. The operating system for Meta Quest headsets (formerly Oculus) finally has a name: Meta Horizon OS. In a blog post published on April 22, Mark Zuckerberg's group announces its intention to share the operating system for Meta Quest headsets with all interested manufacturers. The idea is simple: Meta wants to create the Android of VR, so Google doesn't get to have all the fun when it unveils Android XR later in 2024
We are announcing steps to a more open platform to bring the power of mixed reality to as many people as possible. We’re making it easier for you to build and reach your audiences on our platform. https://bit.ly/4aH07Zq

The Rise of Niche Media: A trend in publisher and broadcast media is becoming increasingly evident: mass media models are struggling to maintain their relevance as rapid tech advancements change consumer patterns. This evolution, however, presents an extraordinary opportunity for niche media companies to thrive and redefine engagement. I love this article (linked) from The Washington Post https://lnkd.in/gh_upNRR about the success of Critical Role, a creator-owned company that turned Dungeons & Dragons play sessions into a spectator event, because it both perfectly exemplifies this shift, and it celebrates DnD culture which is smart, growing like wildfire, and formed so much about my youth. Critical Role has not only captured but also sustained the interest of millions by delivering specialized content that resonates deeply with its audience. This is the power of niche media. They are not just broadcasting; they are engaging millions of loyal viewers through the development and celebration of the DnD niche. They know their viewers’ interests, and passions and leverage this understanding to create deeply immersive content. This is where mass media outlets struggle – their broader focus often dilutes too far to captive. For business leaders and entrepreneurs, the message is clear: don’t try to be everything to everyone. Serve your niche. #CreatorOwned #MediaEvolution #NicheMarkets #BusinessStrategy #InnovationInMedia #DnD
As D&D booms, ‘Critical Role’ makes its own kind of nerd celebrity
