CEO, Women's Health Victoria

It's the end of my first week at Women's Health Victoria - as I said to the team many times, I don't think I've ever been so proud of a team and its work before I actually started!   In the last month alone, with the support of the Victorian Government, Women's Health Victoria has launched a shEqual campaign calling out sexism in advertising, advocated for safe and equitable access to abortions in Victoria and continued to answer over 600+ calls/month to our 1800 My Options service, and plastered fruits on the walls around Melbourne as part of our campaign to promote positive body image through our refreshed Labia Library.   I’m so excited about the future ahead for WHV and continuing to work with our team, WHV Board, the Victorian Government and partners to support more gender equitable health systems and services in Victoria.

We are delighted to unveil the newly updated Labia Library, one of our most visited online resources. To #celebrate its 10-year anniversary and over 11 million global visitors, the Labia Library website has been completely refreshed to include updated, reliable, and evidence-based #health information, supports and resources, as well as advice for health practitioners, health educators and #parents. The photo gallery has also been expanded, now showing 104 unaltered photographs of labia, and includes a broader range of skin tones, ages, genders and body shapes and sizes, to help show just how diverse and unique labia are. The #update was co-designed with a range of health experts and people with lived experience to support the site to be diverse, inclusive and practical. We hope that the new, refreshed Labia Library helps everyone realise that when it comes to labia, normal comes in all shapes and sizes.
