When you think of #PTSD, what do you imagine? For a lot of us, stereotypes come to mind: war veterans, flashbacks, violent outbursts. And while war veterans certainly experience PTSD, and flashbacks and violent outbursts can be symptoms, there’s a lot more to PTSD than what’s shown in the media. Neal Kennington, Director of Clinical Sales at Spring Health, sheds light on the complexities of PTSD ahead of #PTSDAwarenessDay on Thursday. He discusses life events that may lead to trauma as well as trauma responses that can significantly impact someone’s life for years. As Neal says, trauma is personal—and it can affect absolutely anyone. #mentalhealth #PTSD

Trauma is 1000% not limited to only war veterans! BRAVO SPRING HEALTH!! PTSD can show up from so many different things, job layoffs, personal encounters with people, accidents, a variety of things. And it can be short term or long term. Therapy can absolutely help make coping and working through it easier. For some people it can still remain but become manageable, for others it can be worked through with little to no continuing symptoms. Neal Kennington you are 100% right on the money! Thank you for talking about it and breaking the myths.

True! Even more overlooked is how it can come from simple every day experiences in important relationship dynamics. Micro-aggressions, projections, disrespect, avoidance, etc. Whether it's in a workplace, a family/personal situation, or any situation in which there are people who have to relate to each other and the parties are not conscientious of how their words, intentions, and actions affect others.

I love that Spring Health is doing so much in the community of social media and bringing an awareness of mental health and emotional intelligence in the corporate space. 🙌
