How much control do you give to Google? I'm working on a new (to me) account this week. They reeeeeaally handed the reigns over to Google: ➡️ 100% broad match kws ➡️ Shared budgets ➡️ Portfolio bidding ➡️ Just a handful of negatives Needless to say campaigns that should be smashing it, aren't getting nearly enough action (thanks shared budget!). One or two campaigns are getting 80% of the budget, with the rest just getting scraps. There's also a CRAZY amount of keyword cannibalisation going on. Plus search terms triggering ads that have NOTHING to do with this company or their services. 😬 Absolutely massive amounts of wasted budget. I'm all up for letting Google and their AI do their thing, but you still need to steer that ship yourself. Thank F the AAR's weren't turned on! I am however really enjoying sorting this account out though. Nothing better than getting something tidy and organised. ***** 🖐️ I'm Victoria, founder of SMEketing, a UK-based PPC lead generation agency. 🤬 Fed up with disappointing lead generation results? Taking control back from Google's automated systems can be a challenge, but it's definitely necessary to ensure your campaigns are running efficiently and effectively. It's great to hear you're diving in and getting things sorted out. Keep up the good work!
Google AI is good when used wisely. I agree that steering the algo in the right direction is very important.
The good thing about this is that they're gonna be feeling over the moon once you turn this around 💪
Again, it comes down to the basics, cannot ignore the search terms. The negatives should be updated periodically
Thank goodness they got you in to fix it all for them Victoria. Unless this was a paid hack job, I bet they actioned all these recommendations on the advice of Google themselves. Such a waste but I'm glad this company will *hopefully* start converting properly now.
Totally understand the frustration with Google's control. Steering the ship yourself is key. 🚢 Victoria Chapman
