Too often, crisis PR is captive PR. The concept of "Angry Arnold" emerges as a critical missing element in crisis PR—a representative of the public's perspective who can offer unbiased feedback. This external viewpoint, unburdened by internal politics, legal considerations, or ego, ensures that crisis responses are transparent, accountable, and sincere. While it may be uncomfortable, incorporating an "Angry Arnold" is essential for any crisis PR team, as the ultimate judges of the response are the public and customers. https://lnkd.in/gNFXDGkp I #CrisisComms #PublicRelations #PRagency #CrisisManagement James Sweeney

Don't Panic! Here's why you can take time in Crisis Communication! In the heat of a crisis, the urge to react quickly is understandable. But is immediate response always the best strategy? Along with my partner in crime Gillian, we handle crisis communication for a bunch of clients. The good news? We often work with reporters to take the time needed for a solid, well-researched response, despite their request for an immediate statement. Key things to consider: 🤔 Is there a deadline for submission and could you ask for an extension? 🤔 Media relations are key - know and liaise with the reporter 🤔 Ensure you are answering the question 🤔 Gather evidence and key points before you pull together a statement What are your thoughts on taking time in crisis communication? #crisiscomms #communications #publicrelations Conteur

🔥 "It’s an old-school tactic: plan for the best and bring in the public relations team to address the worst if it happens. (I’ll argue that, with this mentality, it’s more a matter of when it happens). But what if the public relations team could be part of your best-case scenario plan? What if I told you that PR is a vital part of an operational strategy that aims to build a legacy from day one?" 👏 Phew. This new blog post from our CEO & Founder Jeremiah Shirk is a word.to.the.wise. Read the full post here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gYe-ThXq We want to know... do you agree? Disagree? We spoke with our Account Director Peter Remon for his top tip for any mistakes to avoid when engaging with journalists. 📨📝 “Some journalists will be too busy to respond to every email, and may not be receptive to multiple follow-ups. Each will have different preferences, but one friendly follow-up should be enough, particularly if they had simply missed your email!” To find out more PR tips and tricks, why not visit our blogs in our website below! 💡 https://lnkd.in/ekj69Bwa #EducationPR #BusinessEducation #TopTip

This is interesting: The survey found that 61% of the general public believes governments should not use AI in its communications due to concerns over privacy and personal data risks. Fifty-eight percent of the public said that the use of AI would decrease trust in government communications. This is a clear warning: Be careful and transparent when using AI tools. Be clear about how they were used and what it means for the public.
“When asked why they distrust the government in an open-ended question, the most common answers from the public included dishonesty, self-serving interests and polarization. Communicators as a whole, however, identified core issues in public trust as polarization, mis- and disinformation and poor communications styles, the survey found.” Learn more about the results from the 2nd annual National Survey of Government Communications & Public Affairs that NAGC conducted in partnership with Ragan Communications & the George Washington University College of Professional Studies in PR Daily’s latest piece. #NAGC #Government #GovComms #Communications #PublicTrust #PublicAffairs #PublicInformation

PR minus fluff | Founder - StrategyVerse Consulting | We help startups gain organic publicity faster
Five grave anomalies in the world. 1. People engage in unending war for peace. 2. Commonsense is not common. 3. 'Revert' is used to mean 'Respond'. 4. PR is thought of as 'Press Release' when it actually means 'Public Relations'. 5. Public Relations team is called in when the crisis has already hit the shore. #PublicRelations #Marketing #StrategyVerse
