Massive congratulations to the Newbury Soup Kitchen team with a reported £15k raised for this amazing charity in our local community. Rest those legs now guys!!
Three Peaks Challenge ✅
What an achievement for our volunteer climbers, 3 peaks, 24 hours and some achy legs but a very successful weekend with all money raised going towards supporting Newbury Soup Kitchen and our local community.
Climbing these peaks symbolises the climb those in need and vulnerable across Newbury and West Berkshire face on a daily basis. The money raised will go towards supporting these individuals with food provisions and outreach.
Without support from our incredible sponsors and individual donations, plus the work all our volunteers do for us we couldn’t do what we do. It means the world and we thank all of you.

We need your help! Our Social Services Department provides food security to over 50 clients each month! As many have noticed, the current price of food keeps on rising and this has put a strain on many of our families. We are committed to helping our clients continue to put food on the table. That's why we are asking the community for non-perishable donations. You can bring them directly to HRI or instantly online via our Amazon Wish List. https://lnkd.in/dWcNi5pP
What does Helping Hands Food Bank do besides provide food? How can our donors know we use their donations responsibly and effectively to serve the local community? How much of a difference do our volunteers really make? Who uses the food bank? How many people use the food bank and is the need increasing or decreasing?
At Helping Hands Food Bank, our goal is to be as transparent as possible with our donors, volunteers, community partners, and the public. Our 2023 Impact Report is one way we report the data and stories we have collected over the previous year to illustrates the impact Helping Hands has on Skagit County as a whole and individuals. By sharing accurate information about the need in Skagit County and trends in the services offered at Helping Hands, we can continue to partner together in the mission to nourish our community with kindness and respect without judgement.
See our complete 2023 Impact Report on our website at the link below. MICRO PHILANTHROPY is bringing in $1.5 million this year to StreetSmart Australia - small micro donations ($2 - $15). It works. People often think philanthropy is high-net worth family trusts donating large sums of money to social charities, health systems and the environment , but what they don't realise is - everyone can be a philanthropist.
Many friends of mine still struggle to articulate the word 'Philanthropy', let alone grasp the concept about 'Micro-philanthropy'. This is why this year, StreetSmart are bringing about awareness of how small micro donations that are pooled collectively with others, can generate incredible large scale impact.
The world and the communities we live in need more micro philanthropy. It's cool. It's a good thing.

Today is National Day of Giving also known as Giving Tuesday!
Celebrated every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday celebrates generosity and the giving spirit.
Today is a great day to focus on those who need our help like charities, families, and community centers. There are a multitude of ways that we all can celebrate based on our individual means.
You can join the global movement by making blankets, donating, setting up collections, and volunteering.
This year, ECCO is continuing in our people-first mindset, EC[COnnection], by contributing to local utility customer assistance programs. Last week, my family spent a couple of days up north helping my husband, Don Riedthaler and the Ignite Northwest team, in their company’s test kitchen make and package meals for hungry kids. Between Don and I having worked decades in the restaurant industry, owning a restaurant of our own and having Don (aka Dad) as the primary cook at home, we have an abundance of food surrounding us, especially around the holidays. It felt so good (thanks to the powerful happiness hormone, oxytocin) to spent time in service to others. In the process, I noticed 3 benefits that parallel the neuroscience research in this article written by Brian de Lottinvillehttps://lnkd.in/ggG4wUY3
1. Synergy
2. Cooperation
3. Connectedness
More benefits observed:
1. Empathy
2. Laughter and play
3. Conversation
4. Future strategic planning and decision making
It’s no wonder companies invest in team building where bonds can be formed. Though, upon reflection, the experience of helping others (for me) trumped some of the more prescriptive team building activities I’ve witnessed or participated in (karaoke bars, and escape rooms come to mind). What has your experience with team building been, and what are the possibilities for designing these opportunities with others in mind?
If neuroscience fascinates you too, check out this article by Ritvo who writes about the neurochemical drivers of happiness: Dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin make up the Happiness Trifecta in this article:

#hungry#children - Two words that should never go together! Did you know that 1 in 8 children in #washingtonstate face hunger every day. None of those children make the choice to be hungry…
Ignite Northwest prides ourselves in doing our part and giving back to our community, and this year we partnered up with Shawn Walton and #StLeosParrish with a commitment of 100 prepared meals…but little did we know that when we asked some of our local business partners like Jeff Winter w/CMA, who donated $500! and Jason Wirth with Bargreen Ellingson who donated a SUV full of to-go packaging and apple juice, we would be pushed to make more than 100 meals.
Inspired by Jeff’s donation, I personally matched his gift and we now had $1,000 towards to purchase of food and supplies to make over 300 MEALS!!!
A special shout out to the team at Ignite, specifically Ryan Devereaux who donated two days of his time to help make these delicious meals, and my wife Janell Payne and our family who also pitched in to help out!
We are now devoted to make this an annual event and next year, stay tuned as our next #goal is 500 meals between #thanksgiving and #christmas#givingback#foodserviceequipment#foodbusiness#hunger#childrenshealth#foodbanks
