How Do You Sell Jewelry with Worthy?

How Do You Sell Jewelry with Worthy?

Selling a piece of jewelry, no matter how valuable, can be a nerve-racking process. You want it to be easy but don’t want to be taken advantage of. You want to get a good deal but don’t know who to go to. You want to find a secure option but nothing overly complicated.

Worthy has over ten years of experience helping people sell their jewelry online and we’ve heard all the questions. Here we answer some of the most common questions we get to give you the full picture of how selling jewelry with Worthy works.

How do I find out what my jewelry is worth?

This is a great place to start. Worthy’s diamond calculator will tell you how much you can expect to sell your item for in today’s resale market. Your item’s selling price is estimated based on information from previous auctions for items similar to yours and will give you a good idea of how much you can expect to earn.

If you have the details of your diamond (carat, cut, color, clarity), you can also go straight to our website and answer some quick questions to receive an estimation of its value from an Account Executive. This doesn’t take long and asks you for a few easy details about your jewelry.  When you're done, we send you a prepaid FedEx shipping label and all that’s left for you to do is schedule a time to pick up or drop off your item to be shipped to us.

Is it safe to sell jewelry on Worthy?

Safety is a top concern for many sellers and we take the utmost care to ensure that your jewelry is kept safe at all times. When your jewelry is in transit on its way to our office, we use FedEx’s insured shipping, and your item is insured for up to $50,000 with Lloyds of London. Once your item arrives, it is assigned a tracking number and kept safely in our vault at all times.

What kind of jewelry does Worthy.com buy?

Worthy does not buy jewelry, rather we help connect sellers with professional diamond buyers who bid to buy their items. We accept all types of diamond jewelry for our auctions - rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, and pins with a center diamond of at least 0.9 carats for natural diamonds or 3.0 carats for lab grown diamonds. We also accept some gemstone jewelry and luxury watches. Visit our What We Accept page to learn more about what you can sell with us.

How does Worthy prep the jewelry to sell it?

When your item arrives at our offices in NYC, it’s given the full celebrity treatment - expert cleaning and professional photography to make sure it looks its best for auction. Our gemology team inspects your item and then it is sent to a third-party grading lab for a grading report.

How do Worthy auctions work?

When your item has finished grading, your personal auction managers will work with you to create an auction listing. This includes the photos of your item, the third-party grading report, and any information that will be relevant to the buyers. You will also set a reserve price which is the minimum amount you are willing to accept for your item. When everything is ready, your item is put on the auction platform and you can watch the bids roll in. If the final bid exceeds your reserve price once the auction has ended, then your item will sell and your payment will start processing immediately!

What happens if my ring doesn't sell on Worthy?

If the highest bid does not meet your reserve price, you can either accept the bid or opt to have your item returned to you, fully insured and free of charge.

Can I get my ring back from Worthy?

Before the start of the auction, there is no obligation to sell and we will send your item back to you fully insured, free of charge. Once your auction ends, you can choose to not sell your ring if your reserve price isn’t met. In that case, we will send your item back to you fully insured, free of charge.
