The NSPCC trade

I'm running the Virgin London Marathon this Sunday to help raise funds for the NSPCC. It's a charity close to my heart and I am definitely not running because I love running. I am aware that there is always some cynicism with giving people money for doing fun things for charity like jumping out of a plane. Anyone who has known me for more than about 2 minutes could probably tell quite quickly that I was not into running. After this marathon, I am quitting running. I really do hate running. I hate the training. I hate missing out on spending time with my family. I hate having to miss out on really nice food! Running sucks. I've now been running for over a year to get through this marathon on Sunday. If you pity me in any way, then please donate here.

If pitying me is not incentive enough, then how about a trade? You donate some money to my fundraiser and I will help you in some way. Perhaps it's advice on how to boost your Instagram following. Perhaps it's how to run faster. Perhaps it' how to persuade people to cough up money for your fundraiser! If you are game, then message me and let's both feel good about raising money for NSPCC. If you are not game, how about liking this post and sharing it so that someone else you are connected with may pity me instead? Remember you can donate here.

Big or small, your gifts and donations make a difference to the children and young people NSPCC help through their services:

  • £3 could pay for the Speak out Stay safe programme to reach 1 primary school child, giving them the knowledge to protect themselves from abuse
  • £4 could pay for 1 of the trained volunteer counsellors to answer a child's call for help to Childline
  • £5 could cover the cost of answering a call to the NSPCC helpline
  • £25 could pay for a trained practitioner to deliver 1 hour of Pregnancy in Mind to help new parents with the ups and downs of having a baby
  • £555 could cover the cost for our Speak out Stay safe programme to visit 1 primary school and speak to every child aged 5-11
  • £1,600 could pay to recruit, train and support a new Childline volunteer.

The NSPCC is trying to raise £1m from their Virgin London Marathon fundraisers. You can help make that a reality! The URL to donate to my fundraiser is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kwaichilondon2018

Thanks for reading (and hopefully donating)!
