The first pan-Asian restaurant in Prestwich will soon be moving to a new home. Codi’s Kitchen will be leaving its Heywood Road unit after two years.
The restaurant is the brainchild of talented chef, Codi Sheldon who came up with the idea of sushi spot in Prestwich during lockdown. The 26-year-old from Radcliffe set up the spot after seeing a 'gap in the market' and began by cooking and delivering food from her family's home.

Speaking on her big move, Codi told the MEN: “I’m stress-excited!
“I feel like until I actually got the keys it didn’t feel real. It’s mad, I honestly didn’t think it would happen.
“I want to thank all my customers and definitely my family. I wouldn’t get here without everyone.
“It’s a very very difficult time in hospitality now, you’re seeing restaurants forever closing down, plus I’m independent, there’s no partner, there’s no backing from anyone.
“This is done with the support of everyone.”
A big lover of pan-Asian cuisine, Codi said she decided to become a business owner when she saw a need for something different in Prestwich. Her cooking journey began at just 12-years-old when she was inspired by her grandparents to pursue a career in the culinary arts.
Codi went on to study catering at Bury College and was able to move on and earn her stripes as a chef in Guernsey. At 19-years-old she came back to the Manchester where she worked at a high level restaurant, before taking a bet on herself with Codi’s Kitchen.
Speaking about the inception of her business and its success, she said: “I saw a gap in the market and it’s my favourite food.
“It was something I was passionate about and there was nothing at all in the area. The first day we opened, and I bought stock for the week and I sold out by half six.
“It was only me at the beginning, I wasn’t even going to have another person at the front. For a while it was like I was getting every single family member I could get to come and help me after work.
“I started from home and all of a sudden I needed a bigger space.”
Codi says that the new move will allow her more space, better facilities and the chance to serve more people. "I hate turning people away." She told the MEN.
"Especially with it being the only sushi, pan-Asian restaurant in Prestwich and Whitefield. I don’t like it.
“Business is good, but at the moment we only have 20 covers. On a busy night we’re turning tables away and it is a lot of stress.
“I think it’s the next step, to move to a bigger premise and the location. I couldn’t turn it down at all.”
Codi will be officially moving into her new venue in October, but the Heywood Road restaurant will remain open for the time being.
Codi’s Kitchen is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 5 to 10pm. On Fridays and Saturdays it is open from 12 to 11pm.
