Just like families and businesses do, the Social Security Administration (SSA) spreads its payments throughout the month. In the case of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), the SSA disperses the deposits in a staggered manner. If you are one of the 7.4 million recipients of this benefit, read on to find out your payment date.
The SSA distributes SSDI payments throughout the last three Wednesdays of each month, depending on your birthday. Recipients with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month receive their payment on the second Wednesday. Users whose birthdays are between the 11th and 20th receive their deposit on the third Wednesday, and those born between the 21st and 31st have their payment on the fourth Wednesday.
With this scheduling, this Wednesday, May 8, it is the turn of beneficiaries who have birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month to receive their SSDI payment.
What are the Social Security payment dates?
On Wednesday, May 15, beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of the month will receive their deposits. If you were born between the 21st and the 31st, you will receive your payment on Wednesday the 22nd.
If you have received SSDI since before May 1997, your payment date is the 3rd of each month. If you receive SSDI along with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), your payment dates are the 3rd and 1st of the month, respectively.
If you do not receive your payment by the designated date, the SSA recommends waiting three days for mail before contacting your regional Social Security office. It also recommends contacting your bank to find out if there is any problem on their end.
