If you suspect that your SNAP benefits were compromised due to fraudulent activities, you are potentially eligible for reimbursement. The first step in the recovery process is to confirm any unauthorized transactions involving your SNAP benefits.

You can easily review your Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) transaction history either online or through the FIS ebtEDGE mobile app. The app is available for free in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, providing a convenient way to monitor your account activity directly from your smartphone.

How do I get a new EBT card in Florida?

If you discover that your benefits have been stolen and you haven't already reported your EBT card as lost or stolen, it is critical to do so immediately. Contact the toll-free EBT Customer Service line at (888) 356-3281.

During this call, you will need to report your card compromised, request a new card, and change your PIN to prevent further unauthorized access. It's important to understand that the Department will not issue replacement benefits until these steps are taken.

After securing your account, the next step is to file a claim with the Department. This involves filling out a specific form detailing the circumstances of the theft and the amount of benefits stolen.

Claims must be submitted for any incident occurring on or after October 1, 2022. Note that even if your SNAP case is closed, if the theft occurred while your case was active, you are still eligible for reimbursement.

The Department commits to reviewing each claim within 10 business days. The amount of the reimbursement will either match the exact amount stolen or equate to the value of two months of SNAP benefits prior to the theft, whichever is less.

Once your claim is approved, the reimbursed benefits will be loaded onto your EBT card the following day and will be available for immediate use. This swift process ensures that beneficiaries regain access to their entitled benefits with minimal disruption to their daily lives.
