Month after month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) disburses Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments in stages to more than nine million Americans. Continue reading to find out if you are one of those who will receive their monthly payment this Wednesday.
The SSA distributes payments for this benefit on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month. Deposits are made according to the beneficiary's date of birth.
Those born between the 1st and 10th of each month get their payment on the second Wednesday. Those born between the 11th and the 20th receive their deposit on the third Wednesday, while if your date of birth is between the 21st and the 31st, you will receive your payment on the fourth Wednesday.
June payments
The SSA will make the first payment of June this Wednesday the 12th, to beneficiaries born between the 1st and 10th of the month. The next payment will fall on Tuesday the 18th instead of Wednesday the 19th due to Juneteenth, and the third round of deposits will be made as usual on Wednesday the 26th.
If you are also on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or have been enrolled in SSDI since before May 1997, you will receive your SSDI payment on the 3rd of each month. SSI payment is made on the 1st of each month.
If payday falls on a weekend or holiday, funds are dispersed the previous business day.
What to do if you don't receive your payment?
If you receive electronic deposit, the SSA recommends waiting three days after your payment date and first contacting your bank to check if there are any problems on their end. If there is no problem at your bank or you are still receiving a paper check, contact your regional Social Security office by phone or go to the facilities in person.
