- Personal Finance. FAFSA Deadline 2024: What is the last day to make changes in your application this year?
The Social Security Administration (SSA) adopted the staggered payment format 27 years ago. Since then, millions of beneficiaries across the country receive their Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) payments on Wednesdays of each month. Do you know if you are on the payment list for this Wednesday?
Since 1997, payments usually occur on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of the month. If the date is a holiday, the payment is advanced to the previous business day. Under this system, the SSA distributes SSDI payments depending on the beneficiaries' date of birth.
Beneficiaries whose date of birth falls between the 1st and 10th of the month receive their payment on the second Wednesday. Those born between the 11th and the 20th receive their deposit on the third Wednesday, and recipients born between the 21st and the 31st receive their payment on the fourth Wednesday.
Who receives their deposit this Wednesday?
According to the SSA payment schedule, beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of the month will receive their payment on June 26. Payments arrive by direct deposit to your bank account.
If you have been part of the SSDI program since before May 1997 or if you also receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the SSA makes your deposit on the 1st of each month.
If you do not receive your payment on the due date, the SSA recommends waiting three business days. After that period, contact your bank to verify that there is no problem on its end. If everything is fine with your bank, but you still haven't received your deposit, contact your local Social Security office.
Will there be an increase in SSDI in June?
Rumors have recently circulated on social media that Social Securitybeneficiaries will receive a $600 increase in their monthly cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) payments. However, the SSA has already denied the rumor.
SSA Commissioner Martin O'Malley ruled out the increase and reminded that the next COLA will be announced in October and will take effect along with your first payment of 2025.
