The Committee was established to enhance the role of the Oireachtas in the budgetary formation process. The Committee reviews the macro-economic and fiscal issues that form part of budget considerations.

Final Report on the Estimates Process 2023
The Committee notes progress made in regard to Revised Estimates being considered earlier in the year, as previously recommended, and argues that Standing Order 215A(1) should be amended to allow 80 days to consider Revised Estimates after referral.

Existing levels of service
Existing levels of service, or the amount of funding required by Departments to carry out their existing functions, form a significant element of the annual budgetary package. The Committee also recommends that discrepancies between Government publications should be eliminated or explained.
