According to a survey from 2019, mobile payment was the most popular digital service offered by travel accommodations in Italy. Data show that 15 percent of accommodations already offered this service as well as seven percent of facilities claimed to introduce it during the following 12 months. Moreover, roughly 30 percent of accommodations did not use this digital service, but were interested in it. Conversely, only two percent of tourist accommodations involved in the survey offered a chatbot service in 2019.
