BUDDING musicians will be given hands-on experience with the Aladdin orchestra when the Disney production comes to the Alhambra next month.

A Musical Play Day on August 20 will welcome up to 70 young musicians at masterclasses given by members of the orchestra, working towards a performance of the award-winning music from the show at the end of the day on the Alhambra stage.

The aim is to inspire and encourage music students and give them an insight into work as a professional musician. Young musicians aged 12-18 who have reached Grade 5 or above in an instrument are invited to apply to take part.

Nancy Shakerley, Disney Theatrical Group’s Education and Audience Engagement Manager, said: "It’s a great opportunity for any musician considering a career in the creative industries. Participants will work with our orchestra, network with other musicians and perform on the Alhambra stage."

* Applications must be submitted to aladdinthemusical.co.uk/music-play-day. The closing date is Thursday, July 11 at 10am.

Aladdin is at the Alhambra from August 14 to September 1.
