CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Clarksburg-based Rogers and Mazza’s Bakery supplies thousands of pepperoni rolls each week to businesses, customers and fundraisers across several states in the region, and the owners have announced a new bakery brand at the same location.

The company has been making pepperoni rolls for decades, but its newest product is a return to a classic recipe from the company vice president’s childhood.

Dennis Mazza announced to 12 News the creation of Poppy’s Italian Bakery and its specialty pepperoni roll, which is different from Rogers and Mazza’s signature roll in some key respects.

“We are starting our Italian bread-type,” Mazza said. “It’s got the stick pepperoni and not the sweet-type dough. It’s more traditional of what Clarksburg is used to. So, we haven’t actually put these out on the shelf yet, but in the next couple of weeks, we will.”

The new Poppy’s pepperoni rolls also come in zesty and garlic varieties. Other products produced under the Poppy’s banner include pizza shells and a variety of breads.

More Restaurant Road Trips

Poppy’s Italian Bakery is under the same roof as Rogers and Mazza’s on Philippi Pike in Clarksburg’s East View neighborhood. Rolls baked there are distributed to stores throughout West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

“We offer you a lot of pepperoni, more cheese, the bread has a real nice texture to it,” said Brent Cochran, who is the route sales supervisor for Rogers and Mazza’s. “When you’re getting a bite of it, you’re getting enough cheese and pepperoni in every bite so you’re not missing the taste of a true pepperoni roll.”

And there’s a third bakery brand doing business at the same address; Sweet Nana’s, which focuses on comfort food.

“We carry a big variety of donuts,” Mazza said. “We make donuts fresh every single day, Monday through Saturday. We also recently started doing ice cream, so we’re doing that, Italian breads, we’re doing cookies, cakes and quite a bit of different variety of hot food that we’re going to start doing that throughout the week.”

You can find all three bakeries under one roof at 1877 Philippi Pike open Mondays through Saturdays. You can also get their baked goods delivered via DoorDash under the Sweet Nana’s brand.
