A Q&A session in Stripes Bar

--

Maidenhead United have been considering a menu of options for improvement works at York Road.

And on Friday the club revealed that it will be refurbishing the outdated Stripes Bar as its starter.

The bar will be refurbished ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and renamed Stripes Sports Bar. This work is able to take place thanks to a new partnership between the club and the Berkshire Hospitality Company – which already operates venues in town including ‘Off The Tap’, ‘Potion & Motion’ and the ‘Tea Pot Café’.

It is hoped the new bar will create a new and improved experience for fans on match-day and the winder community within the town. The bar will have improved food and beverage options with updated drinks offerings and new beers, ciders, and ales on draught.

It will also be freshly decorated and have brand new TVs, a sound system and a giant projector screen installed.

There will be a new burger menu and extended operating hours on match-days and during the week.

The work is also expected to be completed in time for England’s upcoming Euro 24 group stage matches on June 16, June 20, and June 25.

Supporters should keep an eye across the club’s social media platforms and website in the coming days for further information on how to book your place – and take up a ‘fantastic introductory offer’ - to watch the Three Lions in Euros action at the newly refurbished bar.

There will also be an opportunity for supporters to purchase new gold and silver memberships at the Stripes Sports Bar on Tuesday, June 25, from 6pm.

Maidenhead are considering a range of options to develop and improve York Road over the coming seasons and this is the first move the club has made to improve fans’ experiences. Other potential projects include replacing the grass pitch with a new astro-turf pitch to bring in much-needed revenue while the men’s and women’s first teams are not in action. Chairman Peter Griffin and CEO Jon Adams said all options would be considered in terms of their value and ability to generate more revenue for the club, following the collapse of their planned stadium move to Braywick Park. A complete redevelopment of the York Road-side of the ground has also been muted.
