Inmate at Rutledge State Prison dies after being assaulted by cellmate, coroner says

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - An inmate at the Rutledge State Prison was found dead in his cell after allegedly being assaulted by his cellmate.
According to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan, they were called to the prison and upon arrival, they found 58-year-old Leon Habson lying in a cell - he was pronounced dead at 12:39 p.m. on the scene.
Bryan tells us the manner of death is currently undetermined and the GBI medical examiner in Decatur will conduct an autopsy.
He also confirmed that photographs and evidence collected at the scene confirmed this was a homicide.
