Nicholas Omonuk Okoit (Born 8th August, 1999), also known as Nick Omonuk is a Ugandan Climate Justice Activist. Omonuk grew up in a pastoralist family in Pallisa, Eastern Uganda.[1][2][3]

In 2023, Omonuk founded End Fossil Occupy Uganda[4], a local climate movement demanding a phase out of fossil fuels and a just transition for Africa.[1]He has been part of climate campaigns to urge governments and development partners to stop funding fossil fuel energy all over the globe in order to have a sustainable future for everyone.[4][5] Omonuk has criticized the involvement of corporations in fossil fuels at local and international level.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]

During the European Forum Alpbach in Austria, he supported a climate strike at the where he also tells through a podcast how climate change is forcing countless people from his homeland to sell their belongings and flee to other countries.[15][16][17][18]

In August 2023, he supported a swimming climate action at the Dreirosenbrücke in Basel, Switzerland that aimed at demonstrating the connection between oil production and migration.[19][20]In December 2023, attended the COP28 Climate Conference in UAE. The United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, more commonly referred to as COP, was the 28th United Nations Climate Change conference held annually for two weeks.[1][21] In February 2024, Omonuk joined a targeted campaign urging insurance companies to divest from insuring fossil fuel ventures.[22]He supported a climate campaign on cultural revitalisation a head of the global circle for climate justice.[23]

In June 2024, Omonuk supported a climate justice campaign during the G7 Summit in Apuglia.[24][25]

In a compelling investigation on climate disinformation that featured Jusper Machogu and Joyce Kimutai, Omonuk pointed out that fossil fuel exploration has not always been a synonym for growth and development in Africa.[26][27]
