Location

[edit]

The location map looks wrong. Mercer Island is further north. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:800C:1CF0:7AF0:5547:ECE0:BB22:554C (talk) 21:16, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable liberal

[edit]

How is 60% reliable? I am removing that sentence. 80, 90, even 70% would be reliable, but not 60. --Gephart 23:53, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

George Russell

[edit]

I removed the link to George Russell, a serial killer [1], because not all criminals from all cities are notable. Consider that he gets ~1030 Ghits, while Ted Bundy gets ~213000 Ghits. --Alan Au 16:27, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notable locals

[edit]

Several "notable locals" have MIHS students as their only Google hits. Unless there's a verifiable 3rd party source for why an individual is at least locally notable, the entry shouldn't be listed here. --Alan Au 03:03, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have again removed the list of notable residents, as it remained completely unreferenced. -- Mikeblas 08:17, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Only one of the "notable locals" has grown a reference, and it's the only one left. Please don't restore or add new "notables" unless they're referenced. -- Mikeblas (talk) 01:17, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mike buddy, references are made in many of the articles themselves. Why don't you challenge the articles individually instead of removing everything in the entire section? User:Dandelion (talk|contribs) 02:54, 9 January 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dandelion1 (talkcontribs) {{{2}}}[reply]
Because the references need to appear in this article, since the content is here. Wikipeida doesn't serve as its own reference. -- Mikeblas (talk) 03:42, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Any references used must be cited within this article and Wikipedia can't cite itself. Stifle (talk) 13:48, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Further, I've removed the referenced assertion that Joel McHale lives on MI. The cited article says he was raised on MI, not that he currently resides there as this article claimed. Feel free to bring back that claim with a verifiable citation that substantiates it. -- Mikeblas (talk) 14:57, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Band Issues

[edit]

Whoever edited the part about recent MIHS band accomplishments needs to cite their sources. The claim about how it is "unheard of" for high school bands to play at football games needs be cited as I'm sure plenty of HS bands have played at professional football games. Also, the comments on the concert and jazz band need citation (perhaps of certain awards won). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.183.246.162 (talk) 07:08, 7 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

History of this page?

[edit]

Why does the history tab on this article always generate the Wikimedia "white page of death"? Is it working for anyone else? -- Mikeblas 15:21, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mine works fine. WiZeNgAmOtX (talk) 04:11, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

informative web pages found

[edit]

http://www.city-data.com/city/Mercer-Island-Washington.html http://www.city-data.com/zips/98040.html This web site has an almost creepy amount of information concerning Mercer Island. Would any person care to help integrate this data? There are also some fine photographs that have been uploaded to that site. WiZeNgAmOtX (talk) 04:06, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

arch-nemesis?

[edit]

It seems like the word rival would be a better choice than arch-nemesis here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.171.36.38 (talk) 15:49, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree and have changed it.--Jersey Devil (talk) 02:46, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable People

[edit]

Do we need list affluent residents? The list would be thousands long and IMO naming people detracts from the privacy of the community. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.252.146.251 (talk) 20:43, 13 March 2010

Length and Width

[edit]

So how long and wide is Mercer Island? Just saying it's so many square miles is not useful. 74.61.22.12 (talk) 03:14, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Allen

[edit]

Would it be okay to add the fact the Paul Allen, Co-founder of Microsoft lives in the city in the Demographics section? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert4565 (talkcontribs) 18:33, 17 June 2013‎
