I had a good laugh at the Niall Quinn image on the page, but surely someone has a better one than a coke promotional one to put up? --Rboxer 07:57, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Autobiography

[edit]

I have removed comment about his autobiography being notable for not employing the services of a ghost writer (well, not much, anyway) and inserted name of ghost writer (credit where credit is due). Bowsie Jnr 13:43, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Niall Quinn's Disco Pants" Song

[edit]

I can confirm that the song was sung by Manchester City fans long before his move to Sunderland. The story goes that in a pub, before the Sunderland/City game which was Sunderland's first game at the Stadium Of Light, City fans were singing the song (City fans remained big fans of Quinn even after he left City), and it was then adopted by the home fans.

I thought they went up from his knees, not his arse, to his chest. Chorleypie 22/09/06

AlanM, you've reverted the words back to 'they went up from his arse to his chest'. But at City we never sang arse. Besides, I've got a CD of city songs including Frank Sidebottom's Manchester City medley, and Frank sings 'they go up from his knees to his chest'. (Chorleypie 22:16, 8 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]
Chorleypie, I deffo sung 'arse' stood on the Kippax in 92/93 and Niall's book quotes arse as well. The CD version was probably edited to cater for the younger listener. (AlanM 23:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]
OK. The CD wasn't tailored for the younger listener, the next track is called "Kinnel Tommy"... but content to leave this now. (Chorleypie 17:35, 10 December 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Statistics Conflict

[edit]

The article lists Quinn scoring 20 in 93 for Arsenal. The playing statistics however, list him as netting 14 in 67. Which is it? - USArsnl 03:30, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One was league games only, the other was all competitions. I've checked the figures at soccerbase and made them consistent. Oldelpaso 17:37, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Horse Racing?

[edit]

The opening para reads "He is also heavily involved in the management side of horse racing.". If this is true, it really needs expanding on, if anyone knows more about it. Andymilli 09:20, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its not something that interests me at all I'm afraid but it is something widely known to be true, IIRC its mentioned in his autobiog. A quick google brings up

Still plays Gaelic Football?

[edit]

The reference for Quinn still playing Gaelic football is from 2002. Last referenced mention of him playing is 2004. Is there a newer citation to show this is still true? Ishnid (talk) 23:09, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

International goals

[edit]

A list of his international goals would add to this article.--213.94.192.200 (talk) 10:50, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Finn Harps?

[edit]

Finn Harps are based in Ballybofey, about 150 miles from Perrystown. It seems at best unlikely that he undertook a 6 hours + round journey to play junior football in a small town. The text and the infobox fail to agree over his other youth clubs. Perhaps someone with a copy of his autobiog could clarify. Kevin McE (talk) 11:31, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

International Goals

[edit]

When I made this article I could not find his 21st goal. I dont know anything about and i might have missed it. If anyone knows what goal it is then will you please add it into the list and remember to fix up the tally if its in the middle. ShaneMc2010 (talk) 21:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Restructure

[edit]

Hi, i think the contents list needs a restructure. International career should be a sub of playing career. Also if there is to be a section headed Gaelic Games then 'Club career' should be 'club career in association football'. Firestar47 (talk) 08:13, 14 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Firestar47. I have updated the section headings to be in line with the WikiProject Football's manual of style at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 11:34, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nice job. just edited the text slightly to make it clearer. I also took the personal quote and moved it up to the preceeding section. Firestar47 (talk) 20:51, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
