File:Photographing a model.jpg to appear as POTD soon

[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Photographing a model.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 4, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-06-04. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 17:40, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Portable folding reflector
A photographer's assistant uses a portable folding reflector to "bounce" available sunlight onto the model. Also known as a bounce board, this type of reflector is useful when the available light is insufficient for what the scene requires, and using a flash would make the lighting too harsh. Here, because of the mostly overcast day, the sun is positioned in the wrong location to illuminate both the model and desired background properly, so a reflector is used to accomplish the task.Photo: Mila Zinkova

Merge proposal

[edit]

I propose that Bounce board be merged into this article. I think that the minor article contains no meaningful information that is not already in this article, and it has no technical or specialist content that is lacking here. My attention was drawn to the duplication for the blurb to the TFA nomination which identifies two articles as both treating of the same equipment under alternative names, which is an undesirable fork. There is not enough information presented specific to the bounce board as a specific type of reflector to justify its retention as a daughter article/article about a subset of the umbrella term in this article.
