Please familiarize yourself with MOS:LEAD before commenting on other users talk page.

"As a general rule of thumb, a lead section should contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs and be carefully sourced as appropriate, although it is common for citations to appear in the body and not the lead."

In other words, if the body contains sourced information, a source in the lede is optional.

Question from Jude Mayor T (23:18, 4 July 2024)

[edit]

Hollow Sir. Please, what do you advise i first consider in mind before approaching an article? --Jude Mayor T (talk) 23:18, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reading stuff like WP:BLP WP:GNG WP:RS may be helpful. References to reliable sources are considered crucial by many, and inserting content without any may lead may cause sanctions. It's that important. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 23:20, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Hooplyfenz (00:05, 6 July 2024)

[edit]

Hi there my bro, I see you were assigned to me. I read the tall blacks page wants to some new images, can you help me with this?

Also there is strange notice on it saying the page is "too long" it looks like another user has done some awesome mahi (work) on researching the tall blacks. It would be sad if it was deleted. I have a bit of mahi experience on the internet, is there a way to protect the page from deletion ?

chur my cuzzy --Hooplyfenz (talk) 00:05, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The page for New Zealand men's national basketball team isn't going to get deleted. The template only says that the article may be too long to navigate through comfortably, and that the article has too many headers. A part of it may be split to a different page so that the original page can have a summary of the split page. (ex. Japan -> History of Japan, Demographics of Japan, etc...) I'm sure you have the "Homepage" tab next to your user page, so why not start with tasks listed there? ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 00:41, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GA backlog drive

[edit]

Hi, can you please revert your closure of Talk:Three Dikgosi Monument/GA1, and put it up for second opinion instead? You didn't wait for an experienced reviewer and your review was incomplete. -- asilvering (talk) 08:10, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was thrown off by Wikipedia talk:Good articles/GAN Backlog Drives/July 2024#Do I need to close a failed review for it to count?. Misunderstood what the thread said. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 10:43, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No worries! I've sorted out the talk page so that the review will go back into the queue for a second opinion, and I've re-opened the review for you (Sammi Brie reverted your revert, since you removed her comment when you rolled the page back to the earlier version). It's set as second opinion, so you don't need to have any further involvement in that review if you don't want to, though the 2O might tag you in to close it once they've made a decision. You're free to tackle a new one, if you like. -- asilvering (talk) 03:21, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Biggollden (16:32, 7 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello AlphaBetaGamma,

I am just wondering what are generally considered good sources of information. For example, I was trying to edit an article about some kind of soft drink. One of the websites I found was a website selling the product. Would that be considered a good source of information? If not, then what kind of sources should I look for in that circumstance? --Biggollden (talk) 16:32, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sources would be useful if they have a significant coverage of articles subject and are considered reliable per WP:RSP. I'm not quite sure if a website selling drinks are a good source for the mentioned drink. Maybe try finding a different source supporting claims that you want to make? DCWC submission declined

[edit]

Hey AlphaBetaGamma! I unfortunately have to decline the GAN review which you submitted for the Developing Countries WikiContest due to concerns about its comprehensiveness in checking against the good article criteria. While you may not have been successful with this attempt, don't let that discourage you from continuing to contribute to topics about developing countries! Several experienced editors have left you excellent feedback on the review page, which I would highly recommend you check out in order to solidify your reviewing skills. Let me know if you have any questions! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 19:27, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question on A lot of non-independent sources being used in the article.

[edit]

Hello ABG,

Thank you very much for your review. Regarding my article "Faith Leads University," the non-independent sources primarily appear in the "Partnerships" section. This is because these partnerships are not publicly displayed on the partner websites; instead, the signed documents or evidence are accessible on our website.

If these sources are still considered non-independent, would the article qualify if I remove this section? I appreciate your assistance. Ponivehu (talk) 02:44, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was saying that the self-published sources seems to appear too much. The partnership section looks fine from the first look. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 03:28, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response, much appreciated. Please, do I remove the self-published sources and just keep the article the way it is with the independent sources ? I would like to know what you consider appropriate. Thank you. Ponivehu (talk) 03:41, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of removing them, try to find an another source supporting the statement and also going in-depth about the article subject first. Removing all of them is not necessary at all, actually. My own concern is the footnote 3, which uses the subject's official Youtube video. While this and the self-published source isn't something that can never be used(WP:ABOUTSELF), it's always worth it to try to find a reliable source that isn't from a social media.
Lastly, this is just a check, but you did not copy-paste the contents from other websites into the draft, right? (The reason I'm asking this is because the tone of the article seems to be written from the subject's perspective.) Copyright problems are one of the many reasons new editors are barred from making articles directly. Thank you. ABG (Talk/Report any mistakes here) 04:15, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all the positive feedback. This is a learning process for me. It is original content and not copied from another website, will try to make the tone as objective as possible. Will also remove the social media links. Where I am unable to find other sources, I will remove the citation. After this I will resubmit.
This faith based school had only one reference and citation, yet it was approved - Faith International University & Seminary. I followed this as a guide.
Thank you. Ponivehu (talk) 14:32, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SpankyMcRee (02:49, 13 July 2024)

[edit]

Hi there! Nice to meet you, I had a couple questions as I'm pretty new to editing on Wikipedia and I would like to make some pages and edits. Specifically I'm trying to clean up the and finish the Yun-Dongju page and I would like to create a new page for Song Monggyu. If you had any pointers involving what's appropriate for edits and building from the ground up, especially syntax and copyright rules, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time! --SpankyMcRee (talk) 02:49, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Help:Your first article might help, but I'll shorten what it says.
If you are publishing your first article, you have to see if the article subject has significant coverage in reliable sources. If you don't have a conflict of interest in the article subject, I advise you to make a draft and submit it for the articles for creation process after completing the draft. Request on 03:05:11, 16 July 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by GokuSS400

[edit]

So...I read your message regarding the Gotchard episodes list. However, unless this is a new standard implemented in the last year, summaries obtained from Tv Asashi (which is where all the episode summaries for the Kamen Rider franchise come from) should be enough. Looking at episode lists for the rest of the Reiwa-era Kamen Riders, Tv Asashi episode summaries are the only sources cited for these articles as well (Zero-One, Saber, Revice, and Geats).

exactly what other sources should be here for this specific case? and why is it that more sources are being requested in this case, when episode summaries sourced from TV Asashi have been deemed sufficient enough for full publication (in regards to Kamen Rider episode lists)

more information or guidance in the right direction would be very nice. GokuSS400 (talk) 03:05, 16 July 2024 (UTC) GokuSS400[reply]
